I recently retrofitted a 12" UAX system into my 2500 Tradesman, and the components i used were from a very early 2019 Donor Truck. Needless to say the firmware in it is pretty old and has issues, mainly with the back up camera. I was able to get the VIN number from the donor truck and I punched it into the Uconnect update checker on their website. Of course it came back with the same thing it tells everyone, "Your Uconnect System is up to date"... BS, I'm 90% sure since they went to OTA updates, you either get the update OTA, or you go to your dealer and get it as a TSB and the website is just for show. Being that I've retrofitted a different radio into my truck it seems the dealers around here will not provide me with the TSB updates for my module.

That being said, I'd like to ask forums members with 5th gens to please, if they go get a TSB update, ask their dealer if they will put the update on a USB stick for you. Then if your dealer complies, post about it in this thread, include the model Uconnect it's for and the software version or the TSB associated with it and send me the Update, i'll make a list and host download links for the updates here in the OP.

Thank you.

Because it's a UAX 12" radio retrofitted into a tradesman, and the concept of someone modifying the truck is blasphemy to a lot of service advisors.

If you get the files @Mpgrimm2 maintains a firmware thread. Perhaps that would be the place to keep it so we don't fork where firmware updates are kept.

I just figured a gen 5 specific thread might be good since @Mpgrimm2 is mostly gen 4 stuff at the moment.

I'm about out of storage space on my free accounts to host fw files and schematics...

I fully support anyone else that wants to commit to sticking around here for awhile and hosting as many of the 5th gen UAx, UAM, and UAV? Files as possible.

It's become clear some 2013 (when I started saving things) that you won't have luck with a uConnect update site, and just as much help from most dealers if you don't have a great relationship with them.

gOOfy is on the right track. First thing to do is to get a few 19-20 5th Gen VINs with the 3 radio types for each year, verify it via a build sheet, look for/get a TSB reference for the needed updates from TechAuthority or somewhere else, and then ...
... take the Vin, TSB, blank USB drive to the dealer and ask for the update it get it from someone that already got it (to host back here).

* Most importantly... Keep track of all the USA ram radio PNs by year and which parts go with what since the displays are seperate from the control unit except for the base 8.4 radio (& the LVDS video cable).

It's very time consuming, but if you stay on top of it ... it can be done.

PS: grab about 10 posts that you can hopefully edit later as you go to keep things closer to the top. You can link then back to the op later.

Wonder if it will do an OTA update eventually? Guess it depends on what the backend looks at when determining the update.

The OTA system builds the campaigns based on VIN number. Unless the radio is updated in the dealer system, he won't get an OTA update. An example of updating the dealer system, my wife's Cherokee has a VP3 radio which can have navigation added after the sale of the vehicle. When we did this, the system was updated and we now get notifications of recalls and updates for the nav system.

On another note, is there a thread on the 12in swap. I want to look into this on my 2019 Laramie

Yes there is a thread here: https://www.ramforum.com/threads/retrofit-of-the-12”-uax-radio-and-screen-into-a-tradesman.156169/

However, your swap will be MUCH easier since your truck has dual zone climate control, all you need are the proper parts, Radio Module, Touch Screen, and Bezel, you may also need an adapter harness for the touch screen canbus connection. The radio module is EXTREMELY hard to find because they're on a nationwide backorder with no current ETA, i got lucky and found one of out a salvage truck on ebay for $530 shipped. The touch screens are not too hard to find, again i got a slightly used one off ebay for around $550 shipped. The bezel i got from @AllMoparParts.com with Bennys help. Right now i'm all in about $1300.

Or if you want you can go the infotainment Route for $4000, which I really wouldn't recommend, that's just nuts.

Well, I attempted to get an update from the dealer, gave them a USB stick and all, I don't even think they attempted to update the correct firmware, they just pulled my truck in the garage, complained about my Dash Camera, and that was it... At least they didn't charge me for it.
