Looking for input on a good power washer to use before I purchase one. Anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks!

I probably use mine 100hrs a year and so far just buy 5-6hp with axial pumps.Have a subaru I bought from costco 3 years ago now and it works well. Had a b&e one for almost 10 years before the pump wore out and the pump cost more than my new subaru entire unit so I scrapped it apart from the wand, hoses and nozzles. The subaru came with a short hose of low quality so my old hoses were a good upgrade. Have a couple at work, but they're higher hp and triplex pumps, which last a lot longer under constant use. Expensive, but worth it if you're a commercial user. 5-6hp is a good balance of able to clean anything in a reasonable amount of time without so much pressure things get damaged. Tried an electric once, but it's limited by what you can run off a 15amp wall plug so nothing special. Perhaps the newer ones would be better with brushless motors, but I have no experience there.

Using it for my personal use to wash my Ram and Yukon. Up here in no man’s land, where they no nothing of paved roads, I have to get some thing I can use pretty much every 5 days to make it look somewhat respectable!
Something that can blast off mud/dirt pretty easy and that is equipped with a long hose to get underneath my truck. I’ll look around at what has been mentioned. Thanks guys!

Picked up this one a few days ago haven’t used it just yet but I briefly tried a similar one that my sister had and uses to wash her car seemed to have plenty of pressure for that. I have a gas powered one too but that seems to be more of a hassle to use just to wash my truck and damn things loud.

I had a sears gas washer that was 3000psi. It would clean anything I wanted to clean--especially the sidewalks and driveway. If you used it on anything painted you'd run the risk of peeling the paint. I used it once on the truck but was afraid I'd take the paint off if I hit a chip or something. I recently bought another washer that is electric and has about 1750psi. Doesn't clean concrete near as well but it is safer on painted surfaces and you don't have to worry about engine maintenance. Can't remember the name off hand but if your interested I'll get off my ass and go out to the garage and look--LOL. Got it on sale on Amazon for 50% off and I bought an extended warranty on it.

I researched pressure washers for months trying to figure out the best, or at least a good one. I ended with a Yamaha PW3028. Not the cheapest, but has great features, including an auto idle down.

I have been happy with my Northern Tool brand. It has a Honda engine. Make sure you get some pump protector spray like this if you don't use it often. Pushes out the remaining water in the pump and helps preserve the pump between uses. Also, drain the fuel from the carb bowl and add Sta-bil to the fuel if you don't use it often. I have done these steps with mine and it fires up every time I go to use it.

What’s your water pressure right now? You might need a better home booster pump to get adequate output from a 2500+ cfm washer. Otherwise the washer may starve and pulsate.

I don’t have a clue what the water pressure is here. I’ll check it out though.

Most all have idle down when the wand trigger isn't pulled, but it's a nice unit. Cat triplex pump which is the better style pump for frequent use and I've found yamaha engines better than honda in the generators I've had so I agree it's a good machine. It's priced similar to all the 6hp with triplex pump machines. How good are the hoses it comes with? The ones with axial pumps are 1/2.the price and the same output, but they last 1/2 or less as long.

I've run mine gravity fed off a tank. Maybe 5 psi head pressure when the tank was full with 200' of 1/2" hose. They only pump between 2.5 and 3.5 gpm on the 5-6 hp units so I wouldn't worry much.
