Okay. I have a dodge d250 with a 5.2l engine. The coolant temperature sensor for the gauge (1 wire behind the alternator) stopped working. I can ground the gauge wire and the gauge will show max hot.

I replaced the sensor with a standard ts124. Gauge still didn't work. Replaced again with another ts124. Still doesn't work.

I am thinking either the ts124 isn't the sensor I need or the gauge is just defective (even though it appears to work)

Any ideas on a different sensor I can try or a way to test the gauge?

Did you use any thread sealant on the threads? I read up on this on my dads old corvette and this came up. Wasn't my issue but something you could look into. Theory is the sealant insulates the sensor from the block, not allowing it to ground.

Okay. I found out the ts 124 is a temp switch, although it is called a sensor. When it gets too hot, it goes from full off to full on. This would be good for a warning light, but not a gauge. I called standard and they did a bit of research and told me what I need is a ts 186. The ts 186 was designed for the gauge. I ordered one and when I get it, I'll let yall know how it works.

Be comforted by the knowledge that if your engine does start to over heat, your gauge will go full on with the 124.

I'm going to say yes .. But it's been so long I've forgotten what we did.
I have a young Guy who comes to my farm & Helps me with with lots of different trucks.
He & I checked it out Maybe 2 years ago ...Might be 1 1/2 years ago. But It's my Hay Truck . It has the HYDRAULIC SPEAR mounted on the rear of it's flat bed.
...........
..... As I said I plan to paint it this summer & Paint the bed with bed liner .
But I'd like to have a Door for driver side. It just drives like a real good old truck with a couple of issues .
... & THE AC doesn't work. It needs the inside EVAPORATOR CORE. . BUT IT'S HARD TO FIND & iT COST A BUNCH .

What socket did you use on the sensor

Anybody find a fix for this. I replaced the sensor and thermostat and the gauge is going right to hot. The truck 4.7 mag 05 doesn't over heat. I need a working gauge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
