12” Display, like it, hate it, waste of money or best thing ever?

I read lots of complaints on the 12" screen so when I ordered my truck I ordered it with the 8.4" to play it safe. Love my truck and all the features I got with it.

Hmm, I’m still trying to figure out if I want to take advantage of the current deals on the 2020 limiteds or wait till end of 2021 to reach 10 years with my current vehicle (totally arbitrary timeframe I picked for vehicle ownership).

2021 is supposed to be the year of the new Tundra, JGC, F150 and a couple others I've been keeping an eye on. However I can get a fully loaded limited in grapevine for around $60k.

only questions I have revolve around the 12” display and the air suspension. My current 2012 JGC overland summit has air suspension and no issues whatsoever with it.

I love my 12" display. I had an issue for about a week but it was with Sirius and the signal not the display itself.

Like it a lot. Is a shame that not all apps can be made full screen...but overall a nice product.

With that latest OTA update it is very solid.

About 20 months of ownership. It's standard on the Limited. It has done a reboot while driving 3 times since new. Other than that, works as designed. I like it a lot.

Hi, are you currently having concerns with your radio rebooting? Please feel free to send us a private message. I would be happy to help!

Looks bad @ss. Just worried about the issues I’ve read about. Hell the 8.4 impressed me. Cant imagine have the 12” screen. I have the RA2 now [emoji19]

Compared to the 8.4 display there have been a lot more problems. Those that like it generally really like it. I got the 8.4 and I prefer it, in fact I picked a truck that didn't have one because I didn't like the way it looked and the fact that it eliminated some knobs and buttons, which is a risk as far as I'm concerned.

My 12in display got stuck in the camera mode early on in my ownership, about two months ago. Nothing would spring at loose. Not turning it off not turning the car off and then restarting. However once I turn the car off for about 15 minutes or so it did reboot and I haven't seen it do that since. Other than that no issues and I like it alot

Hmm my 2012 uconnect does that sometimes. Had hoped this would be resolved. Why cant someone just make a head unit that you can connect an ipad to as a factory default, not after market...

When I was at the point of making the decisiion 3 months ago, between RAM 1500 and F150, I was leaning heavily toward the RAM. I heard (many first hand, when visiting dealerships) and read about comon issues not only with the 12" display, but rear cab window leaks and frame cracks, fender rust, HEMI valve cam issues, and overall reliability, I returned the Laramie that I was considering, and bought a Lariat.

I realized, then and now, that probably most RAM owners will not have the problems that folks I met were having, and I probably would have been fine. I traded a 2014 JGC that I bought new, and have never had even a minor concern of any kind. But I made my decision. Still like the RAM truck. Maybe next time.

Love the 12” display but it did freeze on me one time in 9000 miles. Rear view camera wouldn’t turn off. Shut the truck down and restarted it 10 minutes later and all was good. I’d buy it again.
I think someone also asked about the air ride. It has advantages. Can raise and lower truck which helps when loading the quad, or hitching up the trailer. Also good when goin off-road. But my 2014 w/o air ride actually rode better with weight in the bed. I find the air ride to get slightly worse with a load. Not rough, since empty is sooo smoooth. Just slightly worse loaded up. Kinda surprised me.

I “like” my 12 inch display but there are issues. First one I had was the display turned all white. I could see the menus underneath the white but it was all white. Reset itself after a trip to the supermarket. Second issue is that occasional when I run errands after a short stop the CarPlay won’t work. It’s like I go somewhere get out of the truck for a minute or two then start it back up and no CarPlay. Stopping and turning off ignition and restarting doesn’t help. It will reset itself after a time but it’s just weird. Did the update a couple of weeks ago and it hasn’t happened as much but does still happen. And one other issue I had is where my satellite radio just went missing from the menu of available media options. Again it reset itself after a short time. Everything is working ok as of this writing.
