Dealership out to lunch

So got a recall notice on my windshield wipers, going to pop by Tuesday to resolve it.
While I had them on the phone I though to ask about bilstein 5100s cost and install, I can do it myself...but getting older and lazier.

'Oh there on special....$999' thats Canadian
'For all 4 or just the fronts?'
'Just the fronts'
'Pass'

Who out there gets told a price like that and say yes?

Thats ridiculous.

My buddy called me from the dealer (Chevy) and told me the dealer wants to change his cabin air filter for $325!!!!!! Told him that better include oil change, tranny flush, coolant flush, spark plugs, etc. he said no, Just the cabin air filter. Told him not to do it. That’s ********.

Helped him change it for under $20.
Can’t believe dealers charge that much and get away with it. It’s sad, some people actually pay to get it done because they don’t know better.

"Stealership" mentality is alive and well. Even during this covid crisis they are trying to take advantage of people....and they wonder why there is such great distrust. Those examples are ******** and ridiculous. Those stealers should be ashamed.

That’s exactly why I only go to the dealership for the free yearly inspections. They always try to get over on you.

Approx 3-4 hours book time at $125/hour, alignment, and mark up on struts I can see how it would be that price on the fronts.

I went to a truck lift specialty place last spring and was quoted 800 canadian for fronts and alignment. I said 100 less you have a deal and its been a job well done ever since.
