Ok, I enabled DRLs without running any additional wires to my headlights the results are interesting on these.

I set it to turn signal DRL using AlphaOBD and it keeps the amber turn on solid (but still signals correctly). If I turn the light selector to running lights I get top bar white, bottom amber. If I turn it to headlights on I get top and bottom white bars with lows (highs work too).

I think I might like it this way even though I was trying to get the DRLs to be both bottom and top white bars. I can live with it if it means no additional wiring.

One thing I was wondering is, is there any function to the DRL dropout feature?

Here's a picture of it in running lights on mode, it's a reflection from my wife's car because I had to be in drive and she would not help me do this in the rain, 7 months pregnant, with a two year old yelling for her...fe2d224d394c08edfb02e6d2c7f146ea.jpg

If you are using the supplied drl harness and the truck drl's set then only the drl the truck has programmed would drop out. You could use the supplied extension harness and tie the drl wire from the headlights to the turn feed to have them both drop out. Only downside would be both the uppers and lowers would function as turns

Ok thanks! I'm not using the supplied DRL harness. I just want to use AlphaOBD and the softkey in the radio so I can easily disable if needed...

Ideally I would want the top and bottom white as DRLs but I'm ok with the bottom amber being the DRL if I can't do the white bars via software. I came across this from @Jimmy07 when he was telling someone how to correct a similar problem with switchback LED turn signals and wondered if it would work for my application too?

"These are the settings you would need:
DRL configuration >optional

DRL lamp location > dedicated

DRL dropout enabled > yes

CBC I/O right dedicated DRL lamp output present> yes (should be yes already)

CBC I/O left dedicated DRL lamp output present > yes (should be yes already)

LED dedicated DRL present> yes

ECUConfig 3 DRL customer setting enable> yes

CustSetMenu 1 daytime running lights CSM> yes"

It can but you'd have to do some modifications.

If your truck didn't come with oem projectors you'd have to add the dedicated drl feed, which you said you didn't want to at this point (really easy to do)

If you had oem projectors, unless alpharex added it to their adapters you'd have to add it then tie the drl wire from the headlights to it. Little harder to find the projector adapter pins

If you want to add dedicated drl's let me know. I'm pretty sure I have some extra pins for the front end connector.

Got it. I think you told me this before too but these threads are getting so big it's hard to find my prior discussions sometimes. Thanks again!

No problem. Yeah they are getting big and does make it difficult finding thing's. Even searching the thread is difficult trying to find exactly what you are looking for.

Have had my alpharex headlights in for a few months now (changed from OEM Projectors). Last week I've been getting a periodic brake light out message on start (passenger if matters), verified my brake light is not actually out, works fine and are OEM LED brake lights. Is there a alfaobd setting that may affect this? Changed some settings recommended in this thread trying to clear up parking light out after installing them (unsuccesfully). Main ones I have in notes:
CBC Features - Door Lock Switch Signal - Driver Front Door Lock Switch
CBC I/O Usage - Door Ajar Switch Usage - Disable
CBC Features - LED Front Park/Makrer Lamps Present - No
CBC Extern.Light voltage changes to 12.2/12V
CBC Low/High Beam LED Present - Yes
CBC Features-Park Lamp Loadshed Enable - No

Any help would be appreciated.

For the passenger brake light out message, that’s usually the third brake light, so check that. Not sure what the CBC features door lock switch signal is or why you messed with it? For the CBC external lighting voltage changes- you changed them all? If so, just set them back to original.

These should be your settings relevant to the alpharex headlights:

VehConfig 3 high intensity discharge headlamps- YES

CBC features LED front turn lamps present- YES

CBC features LED front park/marker lamps present- YES

CBC features LED low beam lamps present- NO

CBC Config I/O Usage front driver door ajar switch signal usage- DISABLED

CBC Config I/O Usage connector F pin 28 passenger side lamp diagnostics/door ajar switch signal usage- DISABLED

So I've been running the G2s for a while now, and have pretty much always gotten a "marker light out" error when applying the turn signals WITH the headlights on...sometimes it's instant, sometimes it takes a while before it decides to throw the error message up. Other times, it's only the driver side that triggers the error, sometimes it's either turn signal.

ALL of my settings match what I believe should be correct...certainly everything posted just yesterday by you matches.

Any idea of why (with LED bulbs in high/low beams) I would still be getting a marker light out error? Are there new settings we can see in later AlfaOBD version that would prevent the error (and the accompanying "ding")?

Doesn't help that I don't recall if I can save all my current configuration (or if it shows all the settings you listed when it's saved).

If you have ideas, I'm all ears!

It's a common problem with the g2's. So far I don't believe there is a concrete solution for fixing it that doesn't include adding resistors. Even with my custom built g1's I occasionally get a error. Mostly with my left one, apparently I turn left more.

One thing that I "think" works is using a 2013 instrument cluster. They aren't as sensitive and/or don't report the lights out.

What resistor size would I need, and which wire would I need to connect it to?

I suppose that's a good question for Alpharex too...

Thanks for the ideas guys. My truck is a '16 with the 7" display stock, so I don't want to mess with that aspect.

Is used these for a while

4PCS ARTR 50W 6ohm Load Resistors - Fix LED Bulb Fast Hyper Flash Turn Signal Blink Error Code(Resistor gets very hot during working) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UNG3EXQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lps2EbB2R89ZK

Black is your ground. What I did is (at least with g1 headlights) they came with a extension harness for the low/high feeds. Since the connector is the same for the turn/park lamps I used that to splice into. I don't believe with resistors it has a ground and "positive" side so all you have to do is connect one end of the resistor to the ground wire and the other to the turn feed.

What bulbs are you guys replacing the stock alpharex halogen bulbs with?

I've been trying to read this crazy long thread and feel like I'm getting nowhere.

Katana, Hikari ultra. I found Aukee to be a good option.

Any fit problems with any of these?
Are they a big improvement over the stock bulb that comes in the alpharex headlight?

No fitment issues. Plenty of room in these headlights. It is a pain getting the little metal retaining clips around the fans on one side but with small screw driver you can get it seated. Because of how stiff the wire is on the katanas you have to put the "driver" in the bottom access area of the headlight (the lower hole below the high beams) and push the connector up to the low beam hole. Not hard to do.

Ok so I'm having the "parking lamp out" issues on the alpharex pro series G2. I have alphaobd and have made some changes. I believe I'm only getting the ding and warning on start up only. Would adding the resistors help fix that? If so I have resistors here to do that, just not 100% what wires to tap into. Pics would help if you have them. I also should note that I'll be putting in hakari LEDs (not ultras) in the high and low beams most likely tomorrow or Monday.

Edit this is on a 2016 with quads and DRLs. Also if it makes a difference or not it's a Canadian truck.

What changes? Did you set both the turn and parking lights to LED? Make sure those are set before adding the resistors.
As for the resistors, they get added like this: led-load-resistors-50w-6-ohm-for-turn-signal-lights.jpg

Yes I changed what needed to be changed to led. So far the only time I get the error is on startup. Thank you for the diagram that helps a lot!
