ALL FIXED! Took it in yesterday and the rear window was replaced. of course it was raining yesterday which was kinda good cuz I could check out the seal that way. all appears good, no issues so far....

So glad to hear this update, @dc73pdsgt! If this concern comes back, or you experience any additional trouble down the road, please be sure to follow up via PM to let us know so that we may assist further!

So there I was this morning cleaning the inside if my 2019 Rebel with less than 1500 miles on it, and bam, I see two cracks in my window frame on the top, drivers side where the window lands when it's closed. I guess I'll take it to the dealer today and get the low down. @RamCares

I went there yesterday and all they did was take pictures to send to Dodge to see if it was covered under warranty. He said that could take 4 to 6 weeks. I would like your help getting this resolved faster. Please IM me.

Take pictures of everything before you take it in.. alot of ppl have had damage after they 'fixed' it.

Also check your seatbelt, seat brackets, etc after the job is done.. mine we're bolted down tightly and/or missing bolts & nuts!!!

How long did you have to wait for Dodge to reply to your dealer about whether or not it was covered under warranty?

All fixed! Replaced with a 2020 unit. Half of the time spent waiting was because I live in a small town and the glass installer the dealership uses was booked for 10 days. Thanks Mark and Madison @RamCares and FCA!!! While it was in I had them do the two recalls (wiper blade arms and flash back up cam).

I don't think it will. On other forums the thread is huge. Mileage ranging from 1k-15k window gets cracks in them and leak. Ranging from 2019-2020's. Even replacements are leaking after a short time from bad installs or new cracks showing up in the exact same places.

Apparently GM also uses the same design on their pickup trucks and are having the exact same issue on their new body style as well. This is a design/material problem I think. A simple replacement will buy you time until it happens again. I am keeping an eye on my 2019 to see if it happens to me but I have mine parked most of the time.

That's what warranties are for. That's why I buy new vehicles. All those fixes are free.

Yeah you're right. Sucks when you aren't driving that new vehicle because of water intrusion into the back of the cab and you're waiting on a replacement. Hoping they get it fixed so it one less thing to exercise the warranty for.

I just learned of this common issue this week and looked at mine, and yep, add both my 2020 1500 Limited and my son’s 2019 Laramie to the cracked list...... Dealer says they’ve never heard of this before, which I find hard to believe.

That particular dealer might not have. There is a star case dated 16 Jan 2020 associated with this issue.

2020 Ram Sport 1500 rear window frame cracked in two places. Just bought a month ago and noticed water on the back seats this week. Had dealer inspect and replaced the rear window. The glass company who replaced the glasses showed me the stress on the new window. Expecting new cracks in the weeks to come. Also informed me of the rust on the back of the seats plus a stain on the leather seats. Currently trying to get seats replaced.

My ordered 2021 should arrive sometime in November.
My question is: would this still happen if I never open/close the window (on past trucks I never opened it).
If it doesn't matter I'll just monitor daily for the first few months.

I had not opened mine (bought in December 2019) and it was cracked within the first week or ownership.

We haven't had any problems with our 2019/2020 Rams that I'm aware of but perhaps I'm not looking in the right spot. Is the crack on the inside or outside? Top or bottom of the sliding glass rear window? Thanks in advance to help me (and others) understand where this is occurring.

And like you, I have never used mine. I'm old school and would have preferred solid glass...that's where the gun rack goes!

Inside, top, where 'posts' are on either side of the slider. I believe there are pictures earlier in this thread.
