hey all, can i bother someone with a dumb question that i am not quite sure how to search for?
Bought a 2011 3500 that was chipped in the past and a 100hp tune added apparently. No handheld or monitor, and the mechanic who apparently did the tune and delete is out of business per the previous owner.

Truck runs fine and all, just wondering how i confirm this and what if something goes wrong?
Can i return it to stock or change the tune with a smarty or something? How do i go about in the future if it is needed? Thanks from a dummy

It has a tune downloaded into the ECM, whether that be an EZlynk ( which I believe it probably is) or some other tune. If you are satisfied with the way your truck runs and shifts there is no reason to do anything. If your truck is running deletes for the DPF and the tune or your ECM becomes corrupted you will have to download another tune in order to shut off the exhaust regeneration system. I have had an EZlynk 30hp tow tune in my truck for the last 9 months and see no reason to change anything. I used to run an H&S Mini Maxx box tune that had a monitor that I could change tune parameters on the fly but because of advanced turbo timing of the box tune lost the headgasket. A lot of people are scared to death to purchase a truck that is deleted and tuned, but honestly it isn't that big of deal IF the truck runs satisfactorily. If I ever have to return my truck to stock emissions or sell it, I will sell and buy a newer DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) model 2014 or newer. I drove my new 2011 2500 in stock form about 3 or 4 weeks and I swore it must have been designed by OPEC the way it guzzled diesel fuel, hence the deletes and tunes. It went from 11.5 mpg to 17 or 18 until the engine broke in a little and gradually went up to 20-23+ after deleting, but that was with the H&S tune. I am getting 18-19 and sometimes 20 with the EZlynk running interstate empty.
