I guess this would be for the mechanics or guys that may have done this...i have a 14 1500 that I originally i stalled a rc 6" lift, I have since removed the front spacers and replaced them with fox 2.5 coilovers and replaced the rear spacer with 5" rear springs and fox 2.0 res. Shocks....i really want to add a couple more inches, any thoughts? Could I add a 2" spacer above the coilovers and rear springs, not sure on the rear shock travel....

Body lift if you don’t need the travel. If you are actually going to use the travel, I’d look at getting a long travel suspension from GOR or dirt king then adding from there

^^^^ this is the safe bet.

Zone and RC make a 1.5” body lift and PAC makes a 3” if you just want to get some more elevation to fit larger tires, otherwise you have to run a larger suspension setup which will definitely cost you.

I wish I did a before pic prior to the Zone 1.5” body lift. But in combination with the Bilsteins set at 2.8 up front I’ve got the “poor man’s” 4”+ lift. I could have fit 35s before, but even now 35s look like they would have more than plenty of room in the wheel wells.

And a BL is cheap comparatively speaking to a full on 6”+ suspension lift, not including any cutting, welding, modifying or fabricating in order to make the suspension geometry legit nor keeping things from potentially breaking or prematurely wearing out. Plus, if you have all the right tools, an afternoon and some beer you can do it in your driveway . . . and I learned a thing or two while getting intimately familiar with the undercarriage of my truck. A buddy helping makes it even easier.

35s look better with some space so it looks like a 4x4 vs a stuffed 2wd to me . GIjoe2010 that looks fine to me Only thing that I could think of to look even better is 35s on a 17" wheel only because I like the taller sidewall and the ride it gives over 20s :favorites13: Killeen TX sounds familiar . My son came home March after a few years at FT. Hood playing with Patriot missiles.

The plan (once there’s a bit more $$$) is Racelines in 18x9 -12 and 35s. Should look killer.

Stay where you're at. Speaking from experience you'll just lower back down again and waste a bunch of money. If you want bigger trade your truck in for a 2500. Me and @JB1 have both ventured the land of over 6" I was at 8 1/2" in the front and 6 1/2" in the rear until I wound up with the fox 2.5's in the front and took my spacers out of the rear back down to my 5" coils. Anything more than where you are right now is going to deteriorate your ride. Yes its cool for a little bit but gets old fast. I also own a shop that specializes in lifts and levels so its not just personal experience

@Quick_Shifter would a 4” suspension lift in combination with a body lift (1.5” or 3”) be a better option than a 6” suspension lift for longevity, ease of install and general upkeep/maintenance on the suspension and drivetrain?

Depending on the brand most 4" and 6" lifts have the exact same parts. The only difference is the spacers in the front and rear spring options. It would be better to run a 6" without a preload spacer to not get the height if you're looking for a 4". And many people would disagree with me on this one but stay far far away from body lifts. That was the old hockey puck trick in the 90's. A couple blocks on your leaf springs and some hockey pucks under your cab mounts and you were lifted for under $100.

Or you all could step up and play with us big boys in the Heavy Duty class with a leveling/lift kit it’ll run 35s w/o issues 37s with some minor rub or do some trimming and correct off set and no rub, And you keep steering geometry in correct alignment and no need for driveshaft mods, differential cams adjustment, worn brakes, ball joints failure, axle shafts, brake lines, yada, yada, yada........

Nothing wrong with body lifts when installed properly. Only people that are afraid of them are people that dont understand that the truck already has one on it from the factory. Yes it's only a half inch or less but nonetheless still there. You are only increasing it.

Any one who used hockey pucks for a body lift deserved to have problems with it. As for block under the leaf springs, yep you guessed it , trucks come from the factory with them also. But that doesn't pertain to your truck.

So if you want a body lift go for. I have installed and ran probably over 20 of them over the years. On anything from a 76 one ton chevy, k5 blazers , 2 nd gen dodges even Subaru's. .

Just may take your advice, after I just put in the 2.5 and am back to a nice ride I would hate to ruin that...my 5yr old is the one really pushing for higher like a "monster truck dad" so he may just have to wait a year or so as my mind is set on a megacab next....thanks for your advice!

I’d just do either a 1.5 or 3” body lift. Won’t change anything about the suspension geometry but it would make a very noticeable difference in ride height and even allow for bigger tires if you so choose in the future.

Here is a link to my 1st year write up. Sometimes the nice ride and everything fitting properly is better than a few extra inches. The 1500 just are not made to be big. One came into my shop with a custom 14" suspension lift and a 3" body lift custom everything to say the least. It was cool to look at but driving was horrible and the issues that it came in for were all related to pushing limits. It also had wiring harness issues

14” lift probably did ride like hot garbage. I don’t think the body lift had much to do with it.

I have a 7" maxtrac lift kit with 37s and my truck rides better than when it was stock .... Maxtrac I think now makes lift kits for 4wds, might want to look into their setups ... you can just get the 4" spindles up front which will hell get you higher and then the spacer in the back to get you to the 7"s like I have which clears the 37s no problem ...

3" body lift - install is worth it if you "know a guy" that can do it for cheap

Shops don't like doing them, so they charge you out the ass...

but a 3" body is your next step and should be your last

I have found a 3" PA body iift was easier than a 1.5 Zone BL to install. I can't remember exactly what was different but I removed a 1.5 and installed a 3" on my 14 years ago and remember thinking that

I’m running the Fabtech 6” Suspenion lift with a 3” Daystar BL on my 2011 Ram 1500 CC Sport. Zero issues with BL and she’s been on for 4 years. Yes, if the BL is done with “hockey pucks” it’s going to sheet real fast, but when done right like any level/lift, it won’t give you any issues and ride like butter. It’s the tires that give you more issues than the correctly installed lifts/BLs.
Fabtech provides the bigger knuckles that pretty much uses the stock geometry and angles. I just replaced the stock lower and upper control arms with the beefier Mevotechs and they have been pretty good. Best for the pocket if you went with a BL. Just make sure your not in Sesame Street when you go to install!
