I have a 2018 PW with 5400 miles on it (don’t drive it much). I have begun to get letters in the mail concerning extending my warranty, has anyone done this?

I was thinking about just calling the dealership to get details on it. I really plan on keeping this truck for a long time, perhaps it might be worth it?

thanks team!

I have one but it was a freebie lifetime thru my dealer. Typically unless you are **** about the maintenance they dont cover anything. I drive a ton of miles so the maintenance cost to keep mine is worth it.

I think that's the catch, you really have to read the fine print. Don't have documentation of X-service interval performed by an authorized technician before the required mileage? Bzzzt, warranty invalidated.

Damn brother, do you live in the swamps? that air scoop is amazing!
from my personal experience I wish I would have purchased an extended warranty. I had to put a rebuilt Jasper engine in mine and it cost me almost 7 grand. Anyway just my story. I hope this will help you out.

There are threads here addressing it. If you do buy a warranty get an genuine FCA not one of the aftermarket ones. That said, DON'T buy it from your local dealer. There are a few dealers in the US that sell the same warranties at a huge discount and are honored at all dealerships. Do a search here.

That's not accurate from my experience. You can do your own maintenance, just keep an accurate record with date, mileage, AND receipts for any parts. We had a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica with the lifetime warranty and had a lot of work done under the warranty, engine intake manifold, fuel pumps, steering components, suspension etc and never an argument. Some dealers can be jackasses but mine never requested any info. I did all maintenance myself on that car.

I just recently bought an additional 3/36000 bumper to bumper from Mopar, my factory 3/36 is up in July. Made sense for me, I'll keep the truck at least that long but if I don't, I get a prorated refund if I sell/trade before it's up.

Just bought a 8 year/75,000 mile Mopar Max warranty from Zeigler. Well worth it for the peace of mind. Especially if you plan on keeping the truck for a while.

As already stated. A lot of threads on this topic where you can get perspectives from so many people that might help you decide. You have balance of factory warranty, correct? That helps. My personal opinion already shared elsewhere is that they are designed to be money makers for the underwriting company no matter which one. I never buy them.

There is also MBI (mechanical breakdown insurance) from your car insurance company. I plan on getting that from GEICO. It covers so much but you have to get it while the vehicle is new. Each insurance company has it's own details and prices. If I remember correctly Geico is pretty reasonable.

I bought the Mopar extended warranty. I don't drive much either so I went with 8 years, the maximum they will do. If you want it with the least hassle. There is the Mopar presence here on this website. They are:

https://www.ramforum.com/forums/chrysler-warranty-direct.172/

They have their own forum area on this website if you have questions. I'm about 1/2 way paying off the extended warranty. They do zero interest so you just pay it down monthly based on the price you agreed too.

Bought one from a third party the day I bought my truck. Let me say, I would not have this truck if it weren't for the warranty. I had some pretty extensive/expensive work done (camshaft, lifters, manifold bolts, water pump, etc) and all were covered with no problem. Warranty paid for itself 3 times over. I'll do it again with any car/truck I purchase.

Bought MOPAR million mile warranty on 2015 Ram Laramie. IIRC, MOPAR no longer sells million mile warranty.

Ram.
- 82K miles engine blew. MOPAR replaced engine. Loaner car the entire 5 weeks without truck.
- 112K miles. Cruise control, key fob and navigation all screwed up. MOPAR replaced cruise control module, new key fob and new "chip" in navigation. Cost to me, $100 deductible.

ALL Ram maintenance IS done by MOPAR dealer. So MOPAR canNOT snivel out of covering repairs. When the engine blew, the Service Rep said this WAS key to MOPAR immediately fessing up to cover 100% repair and loaner.

I plan on keeping the Ram many more years and enjoy many more long trips.

For me, extended warranties are worth it.

FWIW, also have 2019 Grand Cherokee 7 yr / 100K. $100 deductible.

I am the "better to have and not need than need and not have" mindset.

One of the Jeeps I traded in was my daily driver and had 58k miles in 5 yrs. Lets say for easy numbers 12k a year. With the CTD 5/100,000 I got the ext warranty to take it to 10/100,000. At that rate it would take me 8.3 yrs to hit 100k miles. On it's 1 yr annv. I had 21k miles so if I keep going like this, I will hit 100k in 4.7yrs. So basically it is a waste.

Oh yeah on the "lifetime" warranties (had on the Jeeps), IIRC every 50k miles you HAVE to take it to the dealer to keep the warranty running.

I did ALL the maintenance myself. I went abit overboard on the record keeping. I would scan the receipts, take a picture of the odometer with the receipt, cut the UPCs off the containers then put them in a snack ziplock and staple it to the receipt. Then put them in an envelope and file them

BS. I have an aftermarket warranty and have used it once. Dealer did the work. Warranty company paid them directly. I paid the $100 deductible to the dealer. Problem solved. Happy camper. I hate it when people make outlandish claims with zero facts or data.

I've heard some really shady stories in regards to aftermarket extended warranties, but myself have never had a problem with them.

I've only bought them a few times over the years through the car dealership I was buying the vehicle from. My take is they're only going to sell packages from companies they know they can work with. I had several thousands of $ worth of work done that didn't cost me anything extra out of pocket on 2 different vehicles, so the cost of the warranty basically covered it.

I haven't bought any lately given the costs. I'll risk it.

Who currently has the best deal on Factory Mopar warranties? Also are there any discount codes for paid in full?
