Finally got black 5" Carvens. Damn its amazing how much bigger they are. Bought from a vendor I had never tried before. Was a bit leery as as a they appeared to have had mixed reviews in the past on customer service, slow shippings, cratches but American Trucks was offering something not even offered by the Carven store...free shipping including brokerage & duties for Canadians so I went for it. Tips arrived a day early by UPS..in perfect condition. I'm very pleased.

Good to know. I saw that offer but didn't pull the trigger. Next time for sure

Been there. No CEL? Now I always make sure the plastic tether is installed and hooked on the door when I fill up now

No CEL but granted I only drove 15miles tops since I last pumped gas. I hooked the tether to the little lip on the door and just forgot all about it. The tether cord was still there but the cap was gone.

Haha I think I have you beat. 1200 mile roundtrip with the Jeep, left it on the first fill up, bought one at the local parts place. LEFT THE DAMN THING on the next fill up. Last stop, I just stuck a rag in the filler port. What was strange was that I NEVER had any warning lights

When buying the new 2500 CTD, my wife noticed there was not a cap. I told her that was normal and she replied "Well atleast your ******* wont have to worry about it anymore"

Well I showed her haha

Pardon my ignorance... I don’t understand the U.S lol. With a population of 330 million how is there still empty land? Lol. Are places like that busy? I looked it up on google maps and it’s fairly close to LA and figure places like that would be packed with campers.

In Canada we have a lot of land and even for
Me I’d have to drive pretty far north for me to not see anybody else in the Bush. Those pics you posted are beautiful and I’m baffled it’s not packed with people camping and off-roading. Around here it’s pretty much impossible to avoid running into people no matter how remote you think you are.

Aside from politics I think California is probably one of the coolest states. Has so many different climates in one state [emoji2369]. From one of the hottest places on earth to the beaches and mountains.

We stayed away from all the busy places. There was some other stuff we wanted to check out like the hot springs but all of them had tons of people, all the easy to reach lakes were also slammed with people. So like us if you want to avoid people there is still plenty of places and stuff to see, just may have to change your plans on the fly. Most of the places we went to there was still very few people.

Took the family out to our Socal desert to enjoy the outdoors. Initially i wanted to show the kids the nicely sculptures we have in the middle of the desert in Anza Borrego but i didn't know the area was going to be closed because of the Corona virus crap. The entire park trail system is open to the public now but this specific area is still closed. We'll be be back in a couple of weeks anyways so hopefully this will be open by then.
https://www.theoutbound.com/san-diego/photography/visit-the-anza-borrego-metal-sculptures#:~:text=The Anza Borrego Sculptures are like something straight out of a movie.&text=An artist named Ricardo Breceda,foot-long serpent, etc.

So instead i decided to explore the sand washes around and made it a spa day for the truck plus i took the opportunity to teach my 14 13 and 12 YO kids their first driving lessons with the big ol girl. They had blast. We literally had the entire wash for us, so all 3 drove the truck around Fonts point wash in Anza Borrego and learned how to use the mirrors before turning, what turn signals are and how to operate them ,how to give the truck some gas in a controlled way and drive in very loose sand while in 4x4 hahaha. it was a great experience for the family.

I thought i had another video clip with the truck doing 60mph here but my Iphone didn't record haha.
This was also my Accutune King valving official brake-in day after the revalving i had done a few months ago before the Corona strike. Truck felt incredibly well put and we spent around 2 hours going around most of these washes just enjoying the day and working out the suspension.
Not bad for a truck with 88k miles and still on unmolested front LCA's and tierods, 12k miles of it on 37's that can do 80mph with one hand on the hwy, zero wander she doesn't track around fwy grooves and thats even with tires at 34psi.

Time well spent. Memories that certainly will last forever. I still remember my dad teaching me to drive. It was a 69 ford Econoline van. I6 3 on the tree and dad in the passenger seat saying don't you spill my coffee. I was steady as a clock on that clutch pedal. Lol

That is great! This is actually the first time for me, usually pretty good at always looking. On a side note, missing my OBD Link. Not in my truck which is the only place it should be. If I dont find it tomorrow, then odds are the stealership stole it lol (Im blaming them and adding it to the list of reasons I hate them).

Thanks for reminding me to look into the glove box lock. Everywhere I go it says for 1500s only. I find it hard to believe that the bottom glove box is different, but heck who knows.

Yup been in that situation too. I used to put it on the little lip of the bumper by the gas cap. And just drive away lol.

Did you not get the infamous Gas Cap Light on the dash? I left mine loose on my motor home and it came on as soon as I started the engine.

Did not end up getting the gas cap light. I only drove it around 15 miles so not sure if that makes a difference on these trucks.

Good Morning Everybody! Yup you guest it I just drove it today. :sleepy:

Oh and just a reminder to everyone the last step in fueling your truck is to put the gas cap back on the fuel filler and close the gas door. :hidesbehindsofa::)
