Bought new AlphaRex headlight HID system for my 14, 1500 Laramie with projectors last week on Amazon. Install went great but I get error messages Rt and LT turn signal bulbs out and hyper flashing. Alphaobd confirms I'm already set up for front and rear led bulbs. AlphaRex tech help is no help. In over a week I've been able to talk with someone once and they say they don't know why it's not working right. The only reason they give is Ram canbus system is weird and on some trucks it works fine and on others it doesn't. Beautiful looking and great light output but they are being returned today.

I think for factory LED trucks there are a couple settings that need to change in the bcm.

If you have an alfaobd setup you can do it yourself, or let us know your location and maybe someone close to you can help.

I assume you had factory projectors? If so, disable the front driver and passenger door switch usage under CBC I/O Usage. This disables the fault sense wires on the factory projector trucks.

AlphaRex is a joke ! Another headlight company that has poor customer service. I have already hear the experiences of friends who have bought AlphaRex headlights and they have no clue about what is going on when their customers can't get their new headlights working. They shouldn't be selling a product that they don't know how to diagnose and give proper customer service for.

I’ve got their headlights and had no problems installing them. I had OEM projectors and went to the 2019 style projectors and everything went smoothly once I changed the setting to HIDs with AlphaOBD. I didn’t have to change the door switch input either. It was almost literally plug and play.

I have found their customer service both prompt and very helpful.

It certainly sucks that others have had poor experiences...

I love my headlights, and simply ignore the parking light out warnings as I didn't feel like installing the resistors they sent to me for free.

Thanks for the help guys. I have the Alphaobd tool and will try the "fixes" above. I also have the 2019 headlight with the sequential turn signal. Can you walk me through the HID change ? All help is greatly appreciated as I love the look and light output of the lights. I'm in Springfield, MO.

The issues with AlphaRex date back to this last year ...

Sent from my SM-T387V using Tapatalk

This is an issue with an HID kit, not a Nova kit. And the thread starter never said what the outcome was? I haven’t seen any aftermarket “plug and play” headlight company that never has issues. The biggest factor (to me) is how bad are the issues and how good is customer service. With Alpharex so far as a whole the only issues I have heard are bulb out messages on markers or turn signals. Never heard of hyperflash on headlights themselves, never heard of melted housings. Never heard of broken aiming mechanisms and never heard of anyone having to send back multiple sets of lights for defects. Just my 2c

I agree this thread has nothing to do with any of their headlights. It’s just an HID kit the OP was complaining about.

And I’m not sure there’s ANY brand of HID kits that I haven’t heard people complaining about similar issues or that the ballasts burned out lol.

FWIW the HID "kit" came with the AlphaRex headlights, so technically it is on AlphaRex to work through any issues.

Ive contacted them a couple times and they were very responsive, but it was more fitment than electronics. I have seen people with the "gen 2" lights have issues with parking light out errors, etc.

I assume the hyperflash was referring to the turn signals, not the headlights themselves. But again, the signals are integrated into the AlphaRex headlights, so its on AR to help through any issues.

OP had a 2014....early years like that are more finicky than later years, especially if the premium cluster is involved.

No I get that......but CAG isn’t interested in their HIDs though.

I understand they sell them so they’re responsible for assisting with tech support etc.

Maybe the confusion for you comes in the fact that this is a sidebar for another thread where CAG was asking about someone’s NOVA headlamps (which share nothing in common with these HIDs).

CAGs got a nice truck he’s looking to possibly swap out headlights on and seems like he might have some interest in the NOVA series but was concerned about how well they work with our trucks.

And for the most part alpharex seems like they will help people out even though our trucks with all this garbage canbus seem to want to prevent us from changing out the horrible oem lighting.

TLDR: I was just saying HIDs regardless of brand are finicky on Rams and it shouldnt hold someone back from buying a set of built-in LED headlights (even if it’s from the same brand that someone had HID issues with) because the two setups are so unrelated. And for the most part Alpha seems to get their people squared away.

I wouldn't mind HIDs and yes every aftermarket headlight company has issues that is inevitable, but for the price which is my main complaint there shouldn't be issues and the fact that I know people personally who have had them and have suggested that I stay away from them along with reviews and post here and there doesn't help ...

I had contact with alpharex when I was about to order mine and the conversation over the phone with them was not a good one coming. The guy "I" spoke to was just rude, patronizing and basically told me that if I bought a set and they didn't work then they didn't work.

The call to speak to someone about rumored issues was to see if they had any solutions or reassurance of some sort, instead it was just "buy it, find out or don't buy it" type of attitude ...

Why would I want to buy something from a company when they act like this and you still haven't even bought anything? I can only imagine how they would be if I bought it and called in with issues.

So the non support really was there even for a potential customer, consumer.

Alpharex USA hasn't even bee around for a year but they made a splash at SEMA last year, if I am not mistaken they were actually another company can't remember the name right now and bad customer service and poor quality products is what caused either a split or name/brand change.

Modifystreet is either the manufacturer or distributor or both and I don't think Alpharex USA has any idea or clue about these headlights. You can see more about this in the thread below...

Got the Alpharex headlights installed yesterday. Love the look. I'm not sure if they are G1 or base versions (DLRs on top only, non sequential turn signals) but I didn't get any error messages or hyper flashing on my '19 Classic Bighorn. I didn't install resistors. So far it was plug and play.

I haven't had the chance to drive at night to see how they illuminate the street. I suspect I will need to aim the lights.

Just a tip, get a long #2 tip Phillips screwdriver and practice inserting it into the correct location and get a feel for it. I waited till after dark to aim my Alpharex headlights and its more difficult figuring it out in the dark. The screwdriver needs to be pushed in with a little effort while wiggling it back and forth so it engages the teeth.
