That's awesome. Do you have any pics on your process/progress? I'm trying to find someone that can help me with a 3d model.

Here is my progress on the USB port with USB-C. Everything is working as it should. I added black screens to secure everything together.

Hi all! I have a bit of a dilemma and would like some advice.

In 2017, I bought one of the first “All new compasses” mainly for CarPlay. It worked great most of the time but then it would get really buggy and disconnect or the screen would go super fuzzy with yellow pink green all over it. The only fix would be to wait a day or two to resolve itself. Finally I found how to check the version and it was running an early 17.X build in 2019.

So I went to Uconnect’s website to check for an update. Nothing. Finally I stumbled across this thread about a year ago and found the UAQ update files. I installed 22.5 and then 22.6. Here’s the weird part. My radio was changed from a MY2017.5 Identifier to a MY2018 with the update and everything was working better in addition to me being able to enable the WiFi hotspot for free.

I thought the hotspot was maybe a trial, but even after close to a year, I still have free unlimited ATT hotspot.

Well now we’re selling the compass as our needs have changed and my daily driver is now a 2013 Ram 1500. I was curious if the Hotspot was being emitted from some other module in the Jeep and not the radio so I tried swapping it into my Ram. The Hotspot still worked! Everything has been working. SXM, NAV, etc. except for my heated seat controls (known issue, I need to get the 4C retrofit kit or the customtronix jailbreak). But when I reached out to customtronix about certain menus and buttons not working and the heated seats, they told me I would need a UAQ out of a RAM as the Compass one isn’t as compatible. Thoughts? I really like the WiFi Hotspot, but maybe I should just put this stereo in my wife’s 2014 Jeep Cherokee and get myself one out of a Ram and not worry about it? Ahh. Decisions decisions.

I found a 7” VP2 with carplay to put back into the compass so I don’t need this UAQ to sell the vehicle.

Thoughts anyone? Is this radio just going to give me a headache any time I go to do anything with it in the RAM? Or should I even care?

One thing I would like to add to my “novel” lol is that when I connected the system to my Ram, at first it was the same theme and options as were in the compass, but after a day or two, the RAM themes showed up, the navigation icon is now a RAM 1500 and the climate and everything adjusted to the equipment in my truck. Everything works except for the heated seats and some menus are still there for the compass like lighted pathway when turning certain directions.

Well I received & installed my VP4 today:
View media item 29515
They also sent unrequested what the part number comes back as a "Media Gateway":
View media item 29516
I never heard or saw it mentioned in the 200+ pages of the thread, nor did I find it on my truck but I thought since it came with the radio it might be useful. Stopped by my local Mopar Dealer showed my favorite parts guy my invoice and instant unlock code.

So far everything appears to function but that could be do to mods I've done

2015 2500 Power Wagon (7 Speed MTC Original)

Temp sensor installed and plugged in to existing harness Alfa change to Single zone ATC with a Dual Zone Control Switch (I have Planned plenum upgrade in the future)

The screen when dark shows many worn spots and small scratch's, I assume a screen replacement is available and easy to change?

car-parts isn't the only game in town - back in the 80's early in My IT Career I installed **** terminal systems for Hollander Interchange in Auto Recyclers all over the country check out:

No Media Center yet - Sirius Sub Transferred without issue

That is a great site. It has a much more appealing user interface too.

Well good lesson for excitement vs caution, I would think after all these years Auto Recyclers would list parts correctly, While everything on my radio is working perfectly (seats, HVAC, compass indicator, etc.) apparently I purchased a UAS radio and Not a UAQ. I checked my part number and indeed it's a 65 not a 61. So I will more than likely put back my RA4 as I like NAV on My radio, rather then pursue a refund from the Auto Recycler. I will Offer a Trade for a confirmed working UAQ for my UAS, I will leave the Firmware @18.14 I have the unlock code, and can post screens on request of any feature, meanwhile I guess I'll work on my Hub conversion along with my center console conversion. :buttkick:

Have you tried Android Auto or Car play yet? It may be prudent to ask for a partial refund of you like the aforementioned options...

Fair enough, there are a lot more hands free options you may not have known about though...

I would be interested in buying your UAS if you don't trade it

I have 2014 1500 with hemi and just finished installing an UAQ I purchased from ebay and a 4c retrofit harness from infotainment for my heated seats. Everything went well and I am really here to that ALL who are a part of this forum for all the info provided. the swap went well and most of all I want to say MY OLD HUB IS WORKING FINE WITH ANDROID AUTO. My phone is an LG-V40 with usb-c and I just connected it with a cable and was pleasantly surprised to see the ANDROID AUTO icon popped up. I am in a state of bliss!!!

Well my state of bliss was short lived. I decided to upgrade the software on the radio. It was showing 17.XX and I downloaded the one found on on this site. The update well. I am now at 22.XX but ANDROID AUTO IS GONE!!!!!! It seem my USB port is no longer working. I have tried everything with NO GO.
I am so DISAPPOINTED. I do not know what happened. As anyone else experienced this? It is a 2014 RAM Laramie, Just got the radio. installed and Android Auto came in with my original media hub. Everything was fine now the update fried either the hub or Android Auto.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. You will probably need to buy the updated hub and adapter harness to get AA working again.

@BigMAX your original hub probably has an SD card slot in it? It appears the UAS/UAQ radios don't support the SD card:
https://www.ramforum.com/threads/ho...-uaq-uas-radio-in-2013-2017-ram.116140/page-4
This is might be causing your grief, the firmware probably no longer supports that hub
This ...

It appears they removed driver support for older hubs in later firmwares. It also appears you may be the first to confirm this!

Getting the updated hub will restore functionality...

I think that must be the case. I have some more test to do with some other devices because I was running my phone with both AA and AA for phone screens, plus my phone USB setting was on charge only. (found that out this morning) I am at work now (use ford transit for company work) will test later.

after a day with my (sad) UAS I can understand why this such a favorite mod, even over my Harmon 8.4 - Camera Image is Brighter/Sharper, menus are crisper/cleaner and overall performance (menu changes/functions) seem faster even if it's only millsecs
