I am getting a P0456 Small evap leak DTC intermittently. It only happens when the fuel tank is under half full. Once it gets down to a half, the truck takes a lot of cranking to finally fire up and then the check engine light illuminates.

Fill the tank and the light goes away and the truck starts normally again.

So far I have replaced the entire fuel filler neck assembly as mine was cracked. (68448220AA)
I also replaced the fuel tank cap with (52030377AB)
All of the hoses under the truck appeared to be in good condition.

Is the evap system covered under the powertrain warranty? Is my truck still under warranty? 2016 with 34k miles now

I am thinking purge valve after doing some reading here on the issue?

Can someone point me to exactly where the purge valve is? Been a long time since I have messed with evap stuff.

Thanks for any help or advice in advance

Evap purge solenoid will be on the passenger side just under the engine cover. When they start to leak they fill in the intake with fuel vapours causing a very rich condition the next time you try to start it.

Next time the conditions are right, disconnect the hose from the manifold and block off the manifold port. Then let it sit for a few hours and see if the issue is still present.

Awesome! This is exactly the response I was hoping for, thanks so much!
