My belief, current qsud 170ppm moly, amsoil 250ppm, redline 450+ppm, that is high performance redline. The professional series redline is no good, zero moly. Obviously something 66 forced on redline. adding lubegard will boost any oil 100ppm moly above current level.

So the Chrysler-compliant Professional Series Redline in 5w20 doesn’t have any moly in it at all?? What’s the point?....lol. But what is it, the high moly content in the red bottle Redline that makes it not compatible against Chrysler’s MS requirement?

But if the Amsoil SS 5w20 is that high of moly then I guess that’s what I’ll be trying next.

That’s great about that lube guard stuff but I thought someone told me
It wasn’t necessarily wise to use that stuff.

I wouldn't use the word "fortunate", I just think 100,000 miles is barely broken in. Any vehicle these days from kia to ford to lexus ought to run well past 100K without a single problem, even with some slight abuse in terms of oil changes.

The tappet ticks and cam wipe out in the HEMI engines has been happening well before 100,000 miles

It would be very easy to do, but if you were that worried about it you can change the oil before you took it to the dealer with PP 5w20.

Has anyone ever heard of the dealer testing to see what weight oil they used to try and void a warranty? Just curious to how they would know unless you told them.

I thought I read that they couldn’t, or that they wouldn’t take the time to to try.

I think as long as you use top shelf oil & filters and perform maintenance on schedule, the actual brand doesn't make much difference. I do believe that performing my own maintenance does make a difference.
Be careful with that. There are some top shelf oils that don't contain moly and others that have very little.

If it came down to a 5-6k repair bill it wouldnt surprise me if they checked everything!

But how would they be able to check that, tho? I thought I read somewhere within the depths of that multi, thousand-post synthetic oil thread on here that there really wasn’t a definitive way to say yea or neigh between 20 and 30 weight.

Well since I have been for quite some time now contemplating the switch to Amsoil, I went ahead and bit the bullet and did it. 7 quarts Amsoil Signature Series 5w20 and a EA15K50 Amsoil filter. Might even run it out to 8,000 just see what Blackstone says.

Well, retracting my last post. I bit the bullet and swung by summit racing and picked up some redline 5w-30. Figured if I was going to do it might as well go all out the first time. We will see how it performs! :)

All right ladies and gentlemen, as some of you may know, (if you follow my YouTube channel) I had the dreadful hemi tick about 3 months ago. Since I had 103,000 mi on the engine, I decided to replace it with a Jasper rebuilt engine. So far so good. It's been a good decision for me.
I want zero issues with this engine and a good start would be putting the right oil and filter on it.
I have done some research on this and I'm leaning towards Redline full synthetic and a WIX filter.
So now that it's time for my first oil change, I'm asking you guys what you're running in your HEMI and why it's the best choice for you.
I appreciate any and all feedback I get.
Thank you
Adam

After reading the oil threads, I am going with redline 5w30 & a rp filter, also changing drain plug with fumoto valve I saw on on Jb1’s truck. Would like to thank Burla for all his research & advice, will be sending sample to blackstone will post in results in the bs thread, but am sure I’ll be needing Burla’s help again to understand the results

Not yet hope to change oil tomorrow when is the best time to add moly before oil, 1/2 way thru or after?

Do you have hemi tick? Please don't add that liqui moly until we have a discussion about it.

am i the only person who doesn't give a hoot about moly or zinc or any of those things? It's not like mobil or valvoline never heard of those things and just never thought to put them in the oil...

Anyway see y'all at 300k :)

No, you aren't the only one who doesn't care, but you seem to have a bunch of baggage for those of us who do? A bunch of guys have quiet hemi's that had hemi tick and great uoa's to back it up and certainly moly was part of the solution. And there has been evidence that the lack of moly in some oils could have been an issue as far as cam fails, mainly at one point 6 failures in a row where the ram forum members were using oil that had no moly, 2 of those were valvoline and at that time they had zero moy. FCA hemi srt oil has 250ppm moly, so I guess they cared as well. good luck on the 300, likely you are using moly.

Burla, does the valvoline euro spec 0w-40 contain moly? I'll do a search myself, but likely won't find the info. Does redline make a 0w-40 for the 6.4?

Thanks.
