I owned a '93 Bronco in the late 90's and a first gen while I was still in the Army in 2009 - 2010. Personally the 68 FJ40 I had in '03 - '07 would run circles around both those Turds. The new Bronc looks cool, but looks can be deceiving. I'd lay my money down on a old FJ or a Jeep.
I owned a 1990 302/AOD Combo. Thing was a big, slow thirsty boat of a rig. For pounding through the woods, piling people in with the top off and just a fun weekend type rig I loved it. Anything else it was terrible.

Believe me, if im building a dedicated rig, its surely not gonna be a bronco platform, but in today's market in America this is pretty cool. All the foreign countries get the fun 4x4 based rigs....thanks EPA

Is the Ram Forum or let’s talk about the collective hyped up brainwashing and Ford’s Bronco Forum. They better do something because they’re slowly dying off, no more cars except the Mustang and the Mach E, not mention the problems with their PVH, CVH, IWE, and melting wires etc....on their 4wd most popular 150 because they gotta keep making them to correct their issues.
I’ll take Dodge/Ram over the Blue Oval everytime. They had to make their 250’s the “Super Duty” just to measure up to the Ram and GM trucks. So you guys keep hopping on the collective bandwagon believing all the hype, sounds like a decent competitor for Jeep but compare them side by side and look at options and when you put their base against the Wrangler base, and then a Sasquatch against the Rubicon you’ll see where they’ll fail and by the way you can run 35’s on a Rubicon with no lift so Ford ain’t 1st in anything their just following. I’ve built several Wrangler’s and Grand Cherokee’s from a ZJ, WJ, and two WK2’s. 1 YJ, 2 TJ’s a 3rd gen 1500, 2500, and I’ll run My 2012 Power Wagon against any new Ford Tremor.
And just wait until the pricing comes out and the Dealers add their 10-15k mark up because of all the hype surrounding the Bronco.
So go get some hay to feed Ford’s Bronco horse bandwagon , but remember when a horse eat’s hay, what comes out the other end?....
Its the lounge, it's something new to chat about. Sorry to see you're so upset over this topic. I've owned them all, built them all and am about as brand loyal to vehicle manufacturers as far as you can throw me. Figured as auto enthusiasts we could appreciate a new player to the game again and hope this continues to motivate manufacturers to move forward in the 4x4 off road market. I mean its still better than me discussing, say, the new Blazer mini van GM released and being excited over that. High five for being a super mopar loyalist, choose your compromise cuz IMO they all suck in their own right.

To Hodge-XJ, I wasn’t and am not upset at all over the Post. I was being more sarcastic than anything I know it’s not easy to interpret nor to convey in text, unless we’re going mono e’ mono tit for tat in a normal conversation you don’t get verbal cues inflection nor context. I am most definitely a Mopar loyalist at heart and I do appreciate Ford’s attempt at trying to steal the torch from Jeep. When it comes to the big 3, they all make some good one’s and bad ones. I choose Ram/Jeep for what I need in life because I know most all of their problems and most are an easy fix or non-existent with the right preventive maintenance.
My best vehicle I ever had the pleasure of owning was my 1970 Twilight Blue Metallic Oldsmobile 442. W30 Ram Air Hood, W27 12 bolt rear, w29 suspension M22 4 speed, punched out 30 over bore, all roller, full cam, high rise aluminum intake, gear driven, built by Mondello Oldsmobile. 625 hp and 510lbs of torque. That My Friend was something we’ll never see again.

I should have been more objective and not taken it to a certain context. I apologize. I do agree, and my hat's off to them for this. Though the more they release the build details and optioning they are limiting certain things. In true ford fashion I'm sure they'll find a way to mess it up. I hope not, though since it would be nice to give jeep some competition and maybe knock prices down a bit. It's cool, and promising to see the industry and our hobby moving forward. That's all, and in today's world I'll take as a win with all the insanity going on.

I too chose and or circle back to ram/chrysler/jeep. They just always seem to be the best bang for the buck and have always been reliable. I certainly choose to make a solid axle ride as close to IFS as I can and forego the compromises of IFS on anything but a daily driver. If I had the money, i would own a new Power Wagon. The 8spd is a big time game changer for me, I love this trans and paired with a 6.4 would be a monster. So in a couple years I'll likely end up with a used 2020 PW realistically as opposed to the Bronco. But I digress, for now I will rock my Ecodiesel and live through others.

And the 442 you mentioned is something dreams are made of anymore. That's something I'll never realistically own and I would trade both nuts for. I grew up drooling over them every Friday night at the drag way and Saturdays at car shows. Never again will such classy and blatant gross displays of raw Americana grace out roadways.

I’m a little disappointed in how the press rollout has been done. Every video is the same, just another presenter walking around a parked prop talking about the grille and styling. Makes me think these prototypes don’t even run.

I want to see them driven. Not just repeats of Ford marketing vids. For all I know those videos could be CGI.

Has anyone seen a real hands on review with a vehicle that moves?

At this point the vehicles we are looking at are hand made one of a kind. Not surprised they don't want people driving these million dollar photo props.

I am looking forward to ifs after having several solid axle rigs. Really don't see myself taking a new vehicle the same place as my last $4000 landcruiser. Really the bronco is going to be a good Xterra/4runner alternative. Good balance of daily driver and off road ability. The Rubicon vs Sasquatch makes for lots of free advertising. It's just good marketing at this point. Really we should be happy it's not a crossover, maybe it will rekindle the body on frame suv market.

You pretty much verbalize my point of this thread. Off the showroom floor, capable and comfortable vehicle that can fill the void of fun. In my perfect world I'd have a vehicle for every thing I want. But that's not realistic. This won't hit everyone's interests, and that's ok, but there's enough of us it does. When manufacturers started bringing back suvs as crossovers it was kinda a "game over". It seemed like we had to choose to build our own, or buy a jeep. I like options, and competition in the market place is good for us all. Jeep has monopolized the offroad segment, and this might drive prices down. I've wanted a Rubicon since they were released, but they're out of my price range and always seem to be. I always wanted a sport with a rubi setup, similar to a tradesman power wagon. I'll point out, it's nice to just see a new player in the game, I'm sorry but I've seen enough jeep, Tacoma, raptor or Power Wagon builds to last me a life time. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but a new player to the game got me personally excited just to see a bit of market competition. Last time I was this excited was when my buddy got nominated for the 2011 ultimate adventure and we had to panic build his rig.

Approximately
230,000 Bronco reservations have been received to date since the evening of July 13th when reservations opened during the Bronco online reveal! Keep in mind that this figure may be as of a few days ago.

The reservation figure comes by way of one of our reliable sources and the impressive number covers only the Bronco (does not include the Bronco Sport). 230,000 Bronco reservations have been received to date since the evening of July 13th when reservations opened during the Bronco online reveal! Damn, if only half of these reservations make it all the way thru the process that’s awesome.

Now if we could just get Ram to bring back the Ramcharger :hmm:

I love the old boxy 2 door Suvs. GM dropped the ball on the blazer, Ford has a promising contender.....Ram......crickets. Buttttt, the Rebel TRX will be drool worthy and likely over the cost of my house.

I would just be happy if they’d make a Ram version of the Suburban.

This, I’d drive. Not sure about 5th Gen one, tho....

I can say this about Hodge XJ, dude you really shook the tree with this one, lol. It’s good to see some loyalist’s come out and not sitting on a fence trying to decide which way to Jump.
By the way does everyone no how the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon came into production.? A few Jeep designer’s took their own Jeep Wrangler’s and started modding them, taking them to the famous Rubicon trail, they’d mod, test, break, fix, repeat and talk about what they’d like their Jeeps to be built like. They’d try new thing’s and try again and when they came up with what they thought they could convince Jeep into making they presented it to their bosses. Who said no at first but after some more tweaking and begging on their hands and knees Jeep decided to build it.
Bang 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ, the only factory stock built vehicle to conquer the Rubicon trail completely unassisted. Jeep isn’t stupid they are owner motivated and that’s why they are owner loyal.
When’s the last time a manufacturer listened to it’s customer base and not it’s designer’s and stockholder’s you ask? Well I just told you. And on a side note the Jeep wave and in part the Harley Rider’s wave was because after WWII the only vehicles returning Vet’s were able to really find for cheap and purchase were the surplus Jeep’s and Harley’s left over and sold after WWII and it’s was their way of acknowledging a fellow Vet and this a part of the American subculture.
So let’s see how Ford and their new Bronco handles that I mean for ***** sake they lost the Military contract to build Jeeps for WWII, they were among 3 competing entities and well, we all know who won that. And so far as my Power Wagon it’s history is just as storied with WWII and the first personally available 4WD heavy duty truck made.

My wife and I test drove a jeep but we bought a Ram instead, we love the looks but neither one of us were comfortable driving/riding in the Jeep. Will the Bronco be any better?....too early to tell for me.

Not really a Ford fan. I have an 06 Rubicon Unlimited that I bought new. Spent another $10000 to make it rock worthy and them some. My wife drive a 2019 Grand Cherokee and our Ram 1500 Guess I am a RAM/Jeep fan all the way.

Don't ever sell that 06 Unlimited Rubi. That's gonna be the most unicorn Jeep made imo.
