That might be the reason I'm not having any luck with it lol

Edit: had it soaking in Goo Gone for a couple hours, went out again just now with a microfiber and scrubbed and scrubbed and nothing moved. I touched it with my thumb nail and it fell right off. I need to go fishing more and relearn patience

I got my 2019 Ram from a local place called Pine Belt Dodge. They left me with 2 license plate rims that I immediately threw out, replaced with NY Giants plate rims, removed the adhesive sticker on the bumper with a heat gun. What's left is this hard material badge that's annoying the F out of me. I hate it and it's fugly. Anyway to remove this without screwing up the finish or will these methods work?

NY Giants plate frames??? I thought the idea was to make the truck look better...

I thought I was the only one who wanted to do this. Since getting my 2017 Big Horn, seems all I see are Ram trucks, but never one that has been debadged. Now that I know they are glued on and not clipped into the bodywork like my old, old Ranger, I just might do this.

The ram's head in the middle of the tailgate is set into a small recess in the tailgate itself. Not sure how that would look without the ram's head there. The rest are coming off though.

Does anyone have a pic of their completed work?

This thread is soley to explain proper and helpful ways to debadge.

My favorite (and, to date only) way to de-badge is to ask the dealer to do it. So far they have not charged me a penny and done a great job. Along with that, I also ask them to not put on any dealer sticker/logo/marque, and also no dealer mudflaps. They have been incredibly accommodating, in this as well as other issues. For instance, they didn't charge me to put my Borla Tye-S cat-back exhaust on. Also didn't charge me to swap my winter tires on.

So I finally bought a heat gun to work on removing the ram 1500 door badges. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it since I read on here that there is a possibility of the paint around them being slightly faded and then you can still see the badge outlines. (2016 ram). Also wasn’t sure if I was goi g to do it because once you start there is really no turning back and that’s actually 14 “emblems” you’re taking off. Went pretty smooth. Decided not to go fishing line route. I heated the letter/number for about 10 seconds on low and then used a trim tool to pry it away enough to get my fingers behind it. Didn’t realize how hot they stay after you stop with the heat gun. Each came off easy and left behind the full adhesive. I hit that for a few seconds with the heat gun and started picking, pulling, peeling and rubbing till all was off. Hit the residue with the goo gone and a micro fiber towel till it was clean. Did a soapy wash of the area then used liquid turtle wax on the area and it came out perfect. No pics on my tablet to post but it looks great. Now I’m debating removing the hemi 5.7 badge now. :favorites37:

so i have a 2012 Black 2500 Cummins and i would love to take off all of the emblems minus the Cummins C and the ram on the front and back. The only thing keeping me from doing this is 8 years of sun fading. Is there anything out there that would help this out or is it at this point a lost cause and just leave the emblems on?

A warm summer day, a heat gun, a little goo gone, some fishing line and patience. I think the main thing is spending the time to do it right on each piece. Once the piece was off, reheated the left over residue with the heat gun and used a magic eraser to help get it all off. Then washed everything again and buffed it out.

Fate of hemi badge is tbd

Used fishing line, no heat. To remove adhesive, worry loose a corner and pull away from the letter. Make the adhesive stretch and it will release.

cleaned residue with goo gone (3 minutes). Still need to hit it with some copound, have some ghosting I'm pretty sure will clean up'

Removed everything off the door and left the "Hemi" emblem on the fender.

Good god what is that ****? Each of my doors on the B pillar is taking as long as it did to debadge the entire truck! That tape... Wow.

Also, Ram really wants that big rams head badge to stay on the tailgate no matter what. Found that out the hard way.

I know this is an old thread but does anyone know what year they started putting holes in the tail gate for the badges?

Morning, gentlemen. This photo confirmed my suspicion that the adhesive is different between older trucks and my 2019 classic. I've got a hard glue outline left behind, not the foam double-sided tape stuff shown here. I suspect that's why some folks say "I was done in an hour, start to finish..." while others have no luck with goof off, spray adhesive remover, etc. Wish I had a pic to post of the glue I've got to get rid of. I'm thinking about an eraser wheel, but that's $50...

Mine was taped on. I would say a eraser wheel is going to be your best bet. Thats weird, because my Charger hemi emblems on the side and the dodge in the tail lights were taped. Super easy to remove.
