I took out my old plastic bed liner today and found it hiding a quite a dent/bow in my tailgate. Someone must've put something too heavy on it. I plan on getting the bed linex'd so I'm trying to fix it up before it gets sprayed.

Anyone know a good way to pull the dent out? I don't want to get a new tailgate.

Drill holes, screw a dent puller in and hammer it out. Since it is going to be covered you can quickly fill holes with body filler and sand down. Just put small amount in because that stuff is hard to sand by hand and using machine makes a lot of dust. You can use "cheese grater" block while filler sets and is still soft. Good luck.

I'm not familiar with a 2006 but if it has an access panel, remove it and work from there. Otherwise, remove the exterior handle and use wooden pieces to push it back into shape from the outside. Round the edges on the wood first.

The metal will probably be stretched but be careful and you can probably get it close. Removing the catches from each side can give you more access.

You might also just ask a dentless repair operation what they can do. Most of them are very good.
