I bought a Leer 100 XL https://www.leer.com/truck-caps new right after I bought the truck. I have the removable sliding front window and the power lock(wired into the tailgate lock). I think it was $1600 new color matched and installed. I added LED tape lights down the length of the cap for extra light.
Check with the local shops that sell caps as they usually handle used ones also.

I just went through a search for a used one for my 13. The used search was tough especially with Ram making 3 sizes of beds. This is my first cap. I didn't like the profile of most of them and decided the only one I really liked was the ARE Z series. I priced a new one locally and was told with all the options I wanted it was $2600. Carpeted inside, painted to match with power lock connected to my locks. I finally found one used for $900 with the Yakima racks. It's the wrong color but doesn't really look too bad. I'm considering doing a wrap on it toatch my truck. I believe Lund makes one with a similar rear profile which is what I really liked. Just ordered the truck side wiring harness from local dealer and switch to turn on my interior light when I open the hatch for $117.5bfa251a1872a5327dc5df3d5840c421.jpgad91799e998aa1a196d329d7ca0119d5.jpg

We got the Leer top-of-the-line 100XQ that was $2600 plus accessories:
- Removable front slider $130
- Thule Rack System $400 (The cross bars are removable leaving four small posts, rated for 300 pounds)
- Keyless Entry $170 (Locks and unlocks with the truck)
- Power Block $100 (Three 12V outlets)
So, $3,400 (plus tax:() paint matched and installed. I love it!

I've had several different canoed on different trucks. Prior to my Ram I had a Titan with a nice high dollar fiberglass canopy. I never took it off, even when I wanted to, as it is a 2 person job(at least, 4 is better). After a few years I sold it and bought a Softopper. The first thing I did when I got my Ram, was buy a (gray) Softopper. I love that I can put it up, down, or completely remove it in a matter of 3-5 min. It keeps my stuff (minor leaks at corners, just like the high dollar fiberglass canopy), and I can still load tall items in, at the drop of a hat, if I need to. I like to roll up the sides during summer, keeps the bed shaded, and increases my visibility around me. It is high quality material, doesn't flutter around (like people think it would), and looks good.

One pic is with sides and back rolled up, the other pic is with stuff stacked from the bed to the top of the topper for a family trip, which of course, you can't tell because the canopy is there:).

www.softopper.com

I was lucky to be able to purchase mine used, from Craigslist and Facebook marketplace.

I have a Softopper as well. Just need to keep items dry and away from the elements when they're there, and also i can sleep in my truck bed if needed when enjoying the outdoors.
I paid i think $800 and change shipped to my door brand new from Softopper.com. If you can buy one used in good conditions you can save almost half or half depending on your luck. I looked in Craiglist for a couple of months between hard and soft ones but i wasn't lucky enough to find something in good conditions for a decent price so i decided to settle for a new Softopper and after almost 2 years i haven't looked back. Zero issues with it in rain or snow.

As it was said per another Softopper poster, you can take it down in less than 5 min and just keep it folded down in the truck bed or add one extra minute to have it full off and out of the truck all without needing 2 extra set of hands to take off or put it back on. It weights around 50lbs only.

I had an ARE Z-series on my 2015 for a while. Fit was good, no leaks, two complaints are that the rear glass latch is garbage and the company should be ashamed of themselves for putting something that low quality and user-unfriendly on a cap this expensive, and it would have been nice if they had finished the lower edge with a strip of rubber trim or something it was just rough glass covered in a little paint and it always just looked like what it is.... a rough cut. Some L-profile rubber trim would have been perfect, I almost bought some to DIY it but ended up needing to use my truck for larger cargo on a frequent basis so I sold the cap.

Mine has a trim strip on the bottom edge that I was actually going to remove. Maybe I'll reconsider. The latch is awkward bit still better than having 2 handles.

I got a high leer cap , it was a different color when I got it. Painted it with raptor liner now I'll never have to wax it again.

Here my new softopper with a custom bed rack coated with textured durabak. Waiting on the matching basket to be finished this week. I'm loving my softopper. Very easy to remove even with the bed rack installed. 20200814_172315.jpg 20200815_193115.jpg 20200815_193115.jpg 20200814_172315.jpg

I love my ARE Z-series topper. I have had it since my first 2016 model truck and have used it on every one of my new trucks since. I almost had it painted last year to match my grey 2019 but now that I have a new 2020 Silver... i might just get it wrapped.

I will also add that it is worth at least 1.2-2mpg on the highway and gives just enough weight to really smooth the ride.

I recently had the Leer 100XR installed with many features: power lock, slide/removable front window, Thule rack system, headliner, and full bed rug. It's nice. Wanted the slide side windows instead of the pop out. Ended up 3k out the door.

I like what's riding behind that topper! I'm sure it takes away some of that MPG gain from having the bed cover. That's a nice combination you have there.

ARE Z Series...love it! Fully carpeted inside, hinged flip down sliding window in the front, screened crank out rear side windows, and painted to match the truck. Don't know what it cost...came with the truck when I bought it 2 years ago.
