Is there a aftermarket data display that would show me things like trans temp and oil pressure that you reccomend? I have a Tradesman and it does not have this feature from the factory. Do these things plug into the OBD port?

Thanks,

There is apps like Torque Pro(for Android) and Fusion(for iOS) that allow you to read vehicle parameters. You can set up "dashboards" with various gauges to display and even enter custom PIDs to read a lot of specialty parameters. The OBDLink MX+ works with them and can be used with AlfaOBD
I use Torque Pro with my EcoD to read the boost pressure, EGTs, CAC temps, etc. Similar parameters are available on the gassers too.

I use an Edge CTS 2 monitor in my truck. It plugs into the OBD II port and has numerous gauge set up options and gauge type selections.

That is very cool, and just plug and play? That is going on my truck, I like to know what is going on in the system. Thanks for the information.

Not sure what year your truck is, but I can't get trans temp with Torque Pro.

Mine is a 2017 and my OEM configurable gauge cluster has the trans temp option.

But it is hard to read and the Edge unit has a lot more measurement points to choose from.

I purchased an A pillar pod trim piece and it's mounted on the driver's side.

Could you post a pic of this installed? Curious to see how well this blends in to the existing pillar.

Not what it’s designed for but here is how it looks:

Just sayin’...

The Edge CTS2 is about $370 on Amazon...the A-pillar shroud (if it fits that display) runs about $100.

For around $400 (maybe a bit less) you could upgrade your instrument cluster to a Premium one (7” EVIC) and be done. You can then pick what you want for the programmable portions of the display and it looks MUCH nicer than the 3” EVIC that comes standard with the Tradesman.

That’s what I did with mine; just matched the odometer miles and engine hours.

To be fair, you’ll also need AlfaOBD, an MX/MX+ OBD interface and if your Tradesman is 2018 or newer a security gateway bypass harness, but I already have those. This gear is also useful for adding other things like LED lights, global widows down function, vehicle theft alarm, tow mirrors, etc.

The mechanical portion of the swapout takes all of 5 minutes, plus programming time. Did mine in the driveway 2 weeks ago.

My 2012 Tradesman has no EVIC. Pressing mode gives me choices of outside temp, odometer, trip A trip B, and ECO.

Thanks,

Not sure what all your looking for, but my 17 tradesman has a "gauge summary " option on the DIC that shows oil pressure, oil temp, trans temp and coolant temp. Everything I need to know. Seeing volts there also would be good, but not necessary. I can see that on a separate screen if I need to monitor it.

Those A pillar pods are cool though.
