Thanks Jimmy,

Your technical explanation is appreciated and confirms the need to install the bypass harness "temporary".

Thanks Jimmy,

Your technical explanation is appreciated and confirms the need to install the bypass harness "temporary".

I just went and got an oil change at the dealer yesterday. Pulled harness obd connector from holder, undid connection from oem obd to harness and reinstalled oem obd in holder. Tucked wires up out of sight.
Took all of about 3 minutes
Dealer service writer plugged into my truck...no issues.
Left dealer and reinstalled harness.
For me the canbuss connectors are a pain to get to and plug and unplug so i leave those connected and just mess with the obd ends.
After reconnecting the bypass harness I was thinking why did I do that since I dont have any more immediate changes in mind. Oh well, instant alpha connection when wanted vs who knows when I will go do dealer again...lol

Jimmy,
That's good news
Now that you have the harness tucked away as I understand it you would reconnect it the same way when you need to use it.

If just needed it temporarily to do an Alfa change wouldn't it be easier to just plug the harness female end into the factory OBD2? Then plug my OBLink MX scanner into the harness male end? Then when done tuck it away again.

Has anyone here installed this bypass cable, the OBD isn't hard, but getting to the
Can Blocks behind the headlight switch to connect the green and white connectors, how do I remove the headlight switch.

To remove the headlight switch, just pull on the right side of the switch panel (with your right hand) and the switch itself (with your left hand). It will pop out pretty easily. The picture below shows it removed.

Once the headlight switch and lower kick panel are removed, you have easy access to the two CAN bus blocks.

I'm pretty frustrated at this point. I've downloaded the Apps, bought the unlock cable from Kaodtech and it came with zero instructions on which port to plug the two ends into. I've got the large plugs mounted, but the smaller ones, nothing. I see where they go, but they fit in any one of the multiple locations. Furthermore, when I try to communicate with the OBDlinkMX+, it cannot communicate while using the Kaodtech harness but will do so with the factory Diag Plug.

Anyone care to give me a ring?
