Hi, has anyone found a good solution for mounting auxiliary lights (light bars, etc.) on the front of their 5th gen Power Wagon?

Randy Ellis Design, Inc. had one but it interfered with the front sensor so it back to the drawing board.

Not wanting to swap out the front bumper.

Thanks!

@Trailmaker i think has the Randy Ellis bar. But he also has some ditch lights by the A pillars. i think they are like 3" Cubes

But yeah, other than that. Drill the grill lol.

I added a Baja Designs S8 light bar to my grill without making any mods to the grill. I’ve tweaked the position slightly for aiming of the light since this pic but it’s still mounted the same.

I also have Baja Designs XL’s on the A pillars

That looks great! Can I ask how you attached the light bar to the grill?

ok. so i LOVE the look of yellow fogs, along with that light bar.

I need to steal this, and make it 100% identical.

Can you please share:

1) If, or What you used for the fog lights? Where did you get the tint?
2) As said already, please let us know how you mounted the light bar.

I used the the L brackets that came with the light bar and then made a 2 little backing plates from some flat slotted steel I had laying around.

In the picture with the hardware the 2 brackets at the far right came with the light bar. The 2 flat c shaped parts are the backing plates I made. And I used a couple 2 1/2 or 3 inch 3/8 bolts and washers to sandwich it all together.

Also a pic with the backing plates on the backside of the grill. This was test fitting a I turned the plates horizontal because it looked better. (Even though no one will ever see them lol)

It sounds harder than it actually was and you could find several different ways to do a DIY grill mount this is just what I came up with. And it’s worked great so far.

Baja Designs makes a kit ('19+) with the brackets. SDHQ also makes mounts for other years and the new trucks.
This right here. I used the Baja Designs brackets. But I know the SDHQ ones are popular as well.

Awesome! What’s the antenna for? You’re running the lights off at the stock auxiliary switches?

Antenna is for my GMRS radio. I don’t have the factory aux switches so I used a Rough Country MLC 6 switch setup. Not glamorous compared to the fancy s pod systems but it gets the job done.

I was considering A-pillar lights but frequently find myself bushwhacking so that was a no-go. Ended up in and on my Expedition One front bumper.

Those are KC 4” round amber fogs and the KC Flex 40” bar. They nicely get the job done.

Here is what I did. Inspired by @Scotts26 just a slightly different approach.

I used the SDHQ A Pillar brackets which I like because they are compatible with the AEV Snorkel and ended up making my own bracket for the S8 so that it would distribute the load evenly and handle rough roads. I use a Bantam SPod mounted to the fuse block.

Really happy with the way it came out.

@HeliNomad Looks great man! I considered making a full length backing plate for added strength but my 2 smaller ones have held up well with no loosening after a few thousand miles and a couple trips off road.

That’s great! The grill complex is really well designed on these trucks. Really i just needed an excuse to try out my new Miller welder. [emoji6][emoji851][emoji39]
