Well, I have searched the entire enterweb for a week to no avail. Truck was shifting hard then cleared up now while at cruise it falls into neutral if I let off the gas. I pulled the pan and am doing a fluid and filter change and band adjustment. The 3-4 accumulator spring was broke of course so changing that. Trans fluid was a tad on the brown side. Someone been there before I bought the truck for sure. I am wondering should I do the pressure solenoid as well? (not sure of the name but if you have changed one you are familiar). Seems easy enough to do while the pan is off. But I don’t want to waste money on a part I don’t need. I can’t check any codes as I don’t have a scan tool and the truck is already underway of repair.

01 ram 1500 5.9 gas 4x4. Not sure of trans type but whatever is the factory trans.

PS: I will post my results and contact a mod if I figured out the problem so this can be an easy fix for the next fella.

Never heard of this happening. I know some times my 99 ram 1500 doesn't seem like it wants to go into 2nd gear if I'm barely giving it any gas at times but shifts fine into 2nd when being more lead footed. Keep us posted on what you figure out on your truck. Your transmission should be a 46RE same as mine.

Thanks for the reply. I needed to know what type of trans it was so this info was very helpful. I have been searching the internet until Today which is when I planned on purchasing any additional parts. Should be here by middle week and a full update by this time next week.
