Air shutter problems

Have ya’ll had engine light on. Code indicates air shutter no working. Brought it to dealership. Estimate was $600 to start now after three days in the shop parts failure list grown and price has doubled. Truck is a 2019 1500 Hemi with 49,000 miles. No extended warranty. Bummer. Still not fixed yet. No help from Ram. Believe we are doing their R&D on the fly at my expense. Im i only one experiencing this problem?

Is it a 2019 classic or 2019 new body style?

If you are referring to the shutters in front of the rad, overall trouble free.

Was it in a wreck at some time in it's life.

The shutter system isn't very complicated.

I didnt know there was a code for the shutters. I know some people get rid of the shutters. How are they doing this without codes?

There’s a couple ways. Modify the motor or get a bracket that limits the travel of the motor. I used the screw trick on mine.

same thing on my 19 ram shutter code comes up when outside temp is over 85 but any cooler and light don't come back on. Mechanic told me it was no big deal????

Rockauto had them cheap if you want to replace it. otherwise do the trick that crazykid suggested

I believe there's position sensors of sorts in the actuator motor for the active grille shutters. That's how when the PCM calls for the shutters to be open or closed, it knows of they're open or closed.

Also why you can't jamb them open and have the system not throw a code, or also why you cannot remove or unplug the actuator without a code.

Hard to believe a Ram dealer can't resolve this, or at a minimum, good will some of the cost given the truck is a 2019 for cryin' out loud.
