I was going to say color match, I had mine done max-steel metallic, but do like the color combo. I use the 303 on my tonneau real happy with it . You could leave black for now & paint later if you end up not liking it. Great looking truck either way!

Thanks! Ya I am leaning that way but need to find someone who will do it right locally now

What does your wife think, painted or leave as is?

Have you got a quote to paint them yet?

I know they have a light texture so they will require some extra prep work, however since the truck will be getting some paint work done it might be a good time to do it. I think I would take a flare with me and go talk to the paint shop and get their thoughts and a quote.

I put the same rebel flares on mine, I left mine black but always wondered what it would look like with painted. I have since removed them and like the truck better without any flares.

I would paint the bottom quarter all along the bottom of the truck. I Would paint it black or a lite beige gold, would be beautiful. I think you may like it.

I just got a set of mopar pocket style fender flares for my ram 1500 4th gen. I am trying to decide if I should color match them or not. I have a big knife mark from someone on the side of my truck and I was going to get it fixed anyways (1k insurance deductible...) and feel like I could get a good price to have them painted in addition.

I like the black, but have seen some of these that are sun rotted and get that white plastic color fade. I live in Arizona so that is a factor.. Looking for some input or suggestions, thanks!!

If you want a more rugged off-road look, I think black looks better. Painted gives it more of a street look.

BTW - I would look into putting the paint protection film where the flare meets the paint. From personal experience, the road grit that gets between the flare and paint works like sand paper and will eventually eat through to the metal. I put my flares on, outlined them with 1/4" masking tape, removed the flares, then put the 3/8" xpel door edge guard inside the masking tape line before re-installing them.

It takes a little extra time but it is worth it in the long run.

I love the look you have there. What is your set up as far as lift and tires?

For now I would get a $70 Set to Paint and leave the $450 Mopar Set alone if you don't like it you ca swap it back (get the paint shop to mix up an extra pint) if you do well your out the $70 - in case your curious the 70 dollar set aint so bad

She seems to not mind either way and maybe leans towards black. I had seen your thread and liked the look and am surprised you took them off. I got a quote from a fairly sketchy paint shop in Tucson but he was a nice guy and was a vet who is really patriotic so I might give him a shot. He quoted 750 to sand down and fix the knife mark to the truck and 350 for flares. He said he could guarantee the truck paint for up to a year but fenders are hard because of rock chips. I also saw a YouTube video where a guy did his own flares and they turned out nice. I have a professional paint sprayer and feel like it might be within my realm of capabilities. Not sure though still tbd.

I put a 6" BDS lift kit with fox shocks in the rear. 17" Method standard rims with 35" Nitto Ridge Grapplers all terrain. I was able to pick the rims up from a guy off Facebook for 600 bucks, so that was a big win! I then cutout the front bumper with a grinder and fitted a 42" light bar that I got off of Amazon ( had good reviews and was relatively inexpensive.) The only other things I have on it is some bull rings on the truck bed and fender flares soon.

I was being a bit sarcastic (sorry?) I think it looks badass as it sits... But here's what it would look like color-matched... I think it looks pretty sharp.Screen Shot 2020-10-27 at 10.39.35 AM.png

Not to hijack the thread, but what flares are those?

Personally though, I think the black looks mean as well. Gives the truck a really aggressive look over stock.
