I think that is not likely anything that came out of the engine or filter materials.
I would take note of the occurrence and move on with life.
If everything runs fine then it is just an unknown artifact.
If you turn the key and the engine runs as normal is there really anything worth talking about?

I highly doubt a dealer will tear apart a motor without there being a noticeable problem running wise.i guess stranger things have happened though.
No clue on what that piece could be.
Good luck to to ya..keep us posted.

I know so much time has passed. 2 things. Did you check the oil for more metal with a magnet? Second. When doing your next oil change. I would get a high power magnet. Run it all over the oil pan. Guiding everything to the drain hole. Then see what else comes out if anything. Does everything work ok as of now? I would feel relieved I got it out. Hoping nothing else will follow. Did you by chance save the old oil? You can check that for metal. Anyways. Hope all is well.

I am new to the forum and this thread caught my eye as I have been reading through all the threads that I have missed over the years of the forum existence.
If the OP is an A&P ( airframe and power plant mechanic ) he is very familiar with examining a filter for evidence of wear metal, oil analysis etc. All routine procedures for aircraft maintenance. Whether he does or does not perform those tasks is dependent on his confidence as to what the piece of metal is I guess.
I have seen bits and pieces of odd things find their way into an oil pain during assembly. Fortunately they usually remain at the bottom of the pan until they are accidentally found.
And something that large definitely would not make it past a screen in the oil pickup.
OP doesn't seem to be back so probably everything turned out OK.
