Sometimes after it rains, not all of the time, I get a stream of water coming out of the bolt inset on the drivers A Pillar. Anyone else had this? Windshield seal bad? It’s a 2018 Express. Thanks

Remove the hand grip and A-pillar trim, and see where the water is entering

That’s on my to-do list..... was curious if anyone else has had this.

I haven’t - but perhaps also check the body-mounted door weatherstrip to see if it is seated tightly, and is not damaged?

You did not mention - but do you have a sunroof? If so, I would suspect the drain, which run down the A-pilller. The drain tubes are known to dislodge at the sunroof drain nipple.

I have checked the weatherstripping and all seems tight. No sun roof. That’s why I was leaning towards the windshield leaking. Thanks.....

I'm assuming you don't have a sunroof? The drain tubes run through there too (if equipped).

We certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you are not able to determine a solution based on suggestions from fellow forum members and you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, please be sure to follow up with us via private message. We would be more than willing to escalate your situation to a specialist who can work alongside you and your dealer while your truck is in service.

I had that happen one time. I then put a bead of clear silicone around the sharkfin antenna base and it hasn't done that again in over a year. The proper way to fix would be to drop the headliner and remove antenna and seal that hole underneath but I didnt have time due to constant rain storms that week.

I have leak coming from passenger pull handle lower bolt cover. My 2013 truck has no sharkfin or antenna on top(Hawaii ordered truck, uconnect and sat radio was factory deleated, no sunroof, and 3rd brake light I replaced seal and light assembly. Headliner shows no leak and door seals I cleaned and all look good. Thinking windshield. Leak is very minor, car wash it leaked like two out of 30 times, if truck sits at a certain angle I may get 2 TSP of water on floor mat after a day of sitting in rain.

Just because you resealed the brake light doesn't mean that it's not leaking again.

It tends to leak in certain temps, is not the 3rd brake light, gasket is much thicker and I check it's sealed, plus no water stains on headliner or on floor. Body seam is a possibility, but I noticed when I bought the truck the window seal from factory has spots with no sealant, looks odd, like bubbles, so thinking is where leak is coming from. Truck came from Hawaii, maybe the heat caused sealant to expand and contract. The headlights seal was bad also with the original headlights and there was a couple inches of water in housing(bought truck with 29k miles).

Update: the third brake light showed signs of water leakage after the headliner was dropped. New seal was installed and no water so far after a days worth of heavy rain.

And no stains on headliner or water on floor? Odd thing, mine stopped, seems to act up in spring and go away in winter.

Oddly enough, I have never seen any stains or “wet spots” on my headliner.
UPDATE: the leak has returned. It has happened on both Driver & Pass A Pillar. The amount of water has been greatly decreased by replacing the 3rd brake light. The amount is barely a trickle coming from the A Pillar hand hold bolt caps. I honestly have to believe that there is something wrong with either the windshield seal or another seal on the Drivers side.

I would think you still have warranty on your RAM ? Let the dealer fix it at no charge ! Please update what you do find Thanks

That’s the problem......all of these “so called fixes” have been performed at the dealership. It’s going back for the third time next week. I’ll continue to do this until they fix it or Chrysler buys it back from me!!

I've discovered I have the same issue on my 2011. The only time I've seen the water drip from the A pillar grab was after a covering of ice/snow. It wasn't a major storm and left less than an inch of ice/snow mix. The truck set for about a week before I opened the door to discover a small puddle on my Husky floor mat. The windshield trim on both sides appears to be shifted up a little on both sides. I may look into replacing that. Unbelievable that known problems have gone unresolved on a whole generation of trucks that has lasted as long as Ram has.
