If you’re just looking to increase your output with a HID look, LED’s all the way. These are the ones I have in my quads and they worked without any issues:
https://www.amazon.com/KATANA-Headlight-Extremely-Conversion-Adjustable/dp/B078W5WJZ2?
pd_rd_w=6ST8m&pf_rd_p=4fd8798a-ba65-45b8-b40c-250b52c9d9e0&pf_rd_r=TJX0T2CQK3XW3JKERQ7W&pd_rd_r=abc02b8e-a778-4320-99b6-753ebeafeb2a&pd_rd_wg=oL6Ro&pd_rd_i=B078W5WJZ2&ref_=pd_bap_m_rp_1_52_sc

These are the exact same LED’s that Headlight Revolution sells at 1/4 the price. For 50 bucks, this is the best bang on a budget.
If you want full on HID which is the absolute best, I would recommend Morimotos through “The Retrofit Source”.
They can piece together a custom set for any headlight you have.

I recommend also Katana ledbulbs from Amazon! I have H13 bulbs and those were cheap.

Awesome...I came here to find info on this very topic. Looking to buy some new headlights or bulbs for the wife's 2012 Ram as stock are pretty terrible. Not sure honestly why I never upgraded before. Better late than never I suppose.

I was considering a complete replacement but really don't want to spend hundreds. Will the simple LED bulb replacement give a significant increase in light output over stock? That's mostly what I'm after. Maybe I'll looking into changing the housing later in the future if she wants a style change.

I have a 2012 as well.
Mine was night and day difference. For 50 bucks, it was comparable to a HID appearance. Katana’s all the way. No problems with error codes. The ballasts fit right in the housings so you don’t need to drill holes.

If you want a quality product that's not made in china backed with an awesome warranty, that's gonna cost. Not to mention they are truly plug and play error flicker free. They also put the led light in front of you where you need them and don't blind oncoming traffic. Cheap is not always great. Cheap usually cost more. For example a $50.00 led kit that has to be replaced every 6 months will cost you a lot more than spending more once and getting what you pair for.

Nice. I was seeing that flickering and strobing could be an issue without a module...not issues with the Katanas? I don't need the brightest and greatest but anything better than stock that won't cause issues and burn out in a year is a win.

It comes with the modules and you tuck them into the housings. I never had issues with them flickering.

Forgive me I didn’t mean to offend. You’re right, cheap isn’t always great but sometimes, in my particular case, the middlemen buy cheap and sell at 75% markup on the same product. I’ve had good luck with cheap I guess.

Some LED bulbs will flicker because of the PCM signal the computer uses to reduce the effective voltage the bulb sees. Multiple ways to fix it.
1. The anti flicker inline modules
2. 2000 uF capacitor across the leads.
3. Use AlfaOBD to tell BCM that HID bulbs are installed.

Your best output is going to be a hid in a projector. I didn’t see what you have currently but that is your best. LED’s will Come in second. One thing to take into consideration is hid’s need to be in projectors where most led’s are designed to be in reflector headlights

Do you have an HID in a projector that you use now? If so, can you tell me where you got it and if you recommend it?

On my current truck (2020 Rebel) i do not because it came with the factory LED's I did on my 2016 though. That truck came with the factory halogen projectors and I just put HID's in them. It was a lot better than stock, but to get the real good performance you need good aftermarket projectors and you retrofit them into a set of Headlights.
