Going to inquire about this 2019 Larime 2500 with 11.5k miles at a dealer for $58k. A little above my budget but it's a 2019 with very low miles.. I know there's a lot of description to read thru but all I'm looking for is opinions and maybe what to watch for. I'll be towing 8k lb to 12k lb travel trailer. I retire next year so this will likely be the last truck I buy.

Looks nice, probably a decent price in this market. What does it have for interior options?

My only thought is that you are now within $10K of a brand new truck, at least in my area. I just looked at my local dealers inventory and he has 2 new 2020 Laramie Cummins 2500 Mega cabs for $67k each. I'd sure be tempted to open the wallet a little wider and get a brand new one at that price point, personally.

I agree with jejb, in today's market probably not bad. I'm actually waiting, I don't need a truck right now and the '21s aren't even really out yet so that's driving the prices through the roof. They really are selling fast though, I had 4 get sold out from under me while I was literally driving to the dealer.

Wow I need to look a little closer at new trucks, I haven't seen any new for that price but I've been filtering for less than 60k. I don't want to drive across the country but I would go up to a thousand miles for the right deal. It would be an adventure! Thanks for the input.

Hope you all don't mind, I'm asking questions where my research has been inconclusive or where I need specific experienced advice.

I'll have to drive about 700 miles to see the truck.

Do you know if there are different power options for the Cummins diesel or is it just one 6.7l 1000lb torque, 430 hp (?).

Gears: 3.73, is this right for towing around 10k lbs?

Black leather interior.

From what I've seen there is only the 6.7l Cummins with the 68RFE transmissions, the 3500 has an Aisin transmission upgrade option.

For the 2019 2500 with auto tranny, the Cummins is rated at 370hp and 850lb torque. The 430hp/1000lb torque configuration is only in the 3500's.

3.73's will pull 10k with no issues.

Just FYI, that is a generic "description" of a basic 2500 and not the exact one for that truck so be careful. A 2500 Laramie does Not have a #3200lb max payload capacity. That would be for a completely stripped down single cab 2wd truck.

Yes, there are different power/transmission options as mentioned but not for the 2500. The 1000lb ft of torque engine is Only available as an option on the 3500 with an aisin transmission. Not available on the 2500 at all. And you can only get the 68RFE transmission on the 2500

There are also 2 options for gear ratios in the 2019-21 2500, 3.37 and 4.10. Some of the years prior to 2019 will be 3.42 gears.

I had a 2015 mega cab dually 4wd 68RFE that I really loved, my wife got out of the horse business and I couldn't justify keeping it. I did the full delete myself and it only took about 8-10 hours. Made a world of difference in performance and fuel mileage. I have a 2019 2500 crew cab 4wd now and it is a dog compared to my 2015. The fuel mileage is very disappointing (maybe 17mpg on the highway and 15mpg combo) and the turbo lag is horrible. I have had 4 other cummings in the past and they all performed better than the one I have now. IF I keep the truck it will be getting the full delete treatment as soon as it is out of warranty. The 2019 and newer trucks got revised engines and I am not impressed, at least with the one in my truck. It is the new higher compression version but puts out less torque than the newer lower compression high output engine which I believe is only available in the 3500 trucks. If I had it to do over again I would have gotten a 2018 or older truck. Also, stay away from the 12" infotainment center, they are a piece of junk with multiple issues.

I'm California (for now) so the delete is probably a risky option for getting thru smog inspections. I may end up in Utah or AZ in the next few years so I can look at it again then. Curious, if it takes 8 - 10 hours to delete how much effort is it to put it back to stock?

I really like this 2019 with 15k miles for $59k. Any suggestions on price negotiations? If not that's ok, I found a lot of tips on you tube. I understand December is a good time of year to buy from a dealer. As mentioned in another reply this is not too far off from the price of a new truck.

I wouldn't expect much "dealing", it may be end of year but without new stock these trucks are in high demand, specially during this pandemic.

Yeah, I'm not sure this is going to be a normal December.

As far as that truck, it's got non-factory wheels and some kind of lift in it. Automatic signs to many of us to stay away. Might be something you can use to get the price down, though.

So stay away from a truck that has a lift and non factory wheels? That’s is the absolute dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

The white truck above has a three inch lift which is about what I would do. I'm not so sure I want big tires tho since I won't be in the mud or sand much and I prefer better gas mileage but They could be sold and replaced. Dodge trucks seem to need leveling.
I'm learning there are a LOT of used trucks on the market and Dodge trucks appear to be priced below Ford, Chev and GMC.

Here's a good looking deal(?)

2020 RAM 2500 Laramie Crew Cab 4WD - $58,995 7300 mi.

Not really, depends on what your doing with it. As the OP stated he's planning on towing, lifts change the geometry of the suspension and require drop hitches both if which reduce tow capacity and cause issues with towing. The tires can be sold and replaced with the proper load rated tires so that's not a big deal, but who wants to hassle with all that after spending $50k.
