The headlights were purchased directly from Alpharex and I went with the Chrome G2's. They were shipped and delivered from Texas to South Carolina in about 3 days. The led's and HID kit made it in the same amount of time.

When everything came I was stoked especially after seeing everyone's posts and output shots in the Alpharex/Modifystreet thread. But I still had reservations about installing them myself sonic set out for a shop that would do it reasonably priced and properly. Today I went to the shop and took my lights and all my bulbs. 2hrs and 45 minutes later they said all done "man those lights are nice!" Welp it didnt take long to know they messed up the install. Driving back to my house I noticed the driver side projector was casting left on the farvkeft side of the road. And there was a large void in the middle in front of my truck. The fog lights were the only thing that worked correctly and I was pissed.

So I got home, grabbed some tools, and started tearing about the grill and headlights. My anger grew especially when I saw that they stuck the gray DRL wire in to my fuse box in an open socket not even sandwiched with a fuse to help holdnit in place.

The HID kit was hanging down towards the wheel well not even secured same with all accompanying wires and then they didnt even install the HID bulb correctly in the housing or through the dust cap with a grommet that came with the bulbs. My Hikari Ultras were not installed correctly and fell out when I removed the headlight. The fog light were not clocked properly and wow what a difference when they are.

Just an overall lack of knowledge and sloppiness forced me to call the owner and demand a refund. Once he saw the pictures he agreed that it was one of the worst jobs he has seen. So after removing the headlights, clicking the led bulbs correctly, mounting and securing the hid kit, and properly tapping fuse 66 for the DRL my lights look 1000000% better. The cutoff is almost perfect. I as a noob stepped down the cutoffs instead of making them level but I'll fix that tomorrow. My only issues now are a Parking Bulb out light when I use my turn signals and the 5000k hid bulbs are too yellow and dont match the rest of the bulbs and it sticks out like a sore thumb sonic ordered some 6000k hid bulbs to replace them.

Sorry for the long post but the moral of the story nobody is try and do installs and fixes before doling out money because you just might be waiting for a refund in the end.

Here are my output shots. Not the clearest but what a difference over stock. I'll adjust the lights tomorrow so they are even across and not stepped down. I'll update once my new 6000k HID bulbs come in.

It doesn't even look like they drilled the cap, it looks like they used a heating/soldering iron to melt a hole through it....WTF

My guess is if the fancy LED signal utilizes the truck's 3157 harness you'd need a decoder between them.
Or change settings with AlphaOBD.

As I have the same Alpharex headlights, I have a couple questions. Did you use the HIDs for the high beam or low beam? I couldn't tell from the post. I used HID's in the low beams, but my (HID) fog lights are brighter. I'm just wondering if I have an issue with the HID kit or the projector, or that is just as much light as I can get. I was considering using the Hikaris for the high beam, but also checking them in the low beam as well. On the Hikari LEDs, how do you clock them? Some LEDs I have ordered just used o-rings to keep them in place and they are too loose. I'm wondering if the Hikaris use a different method to keep them in place. Last, mine didn't come with oem style adjusters so I have to remove the light every time I want to adjust. Are all the Alpharex lights this way? Mine say Alpharex right on the case. I was thinking I got a cheap brand being sold as Alpharex, but it doesn't look like it. Thanks

If you put HIDs in your factory fog lights they appear "brighter" because they are now flood lights and do nothing beneficial for you, or the others around you. HIDs should ONLY be used in projector housings. If you want better fog lights there are several options out there, i am runnign the Morimoto LED fogs, and i believe there is another outfit making some replacement LED fog lights that swap the housings to one designed for LEDs. Brightness does not mean quality if the beam pattern is trash. HIDs never belong in a reflector housing.

AS to HID high/low, HIDs are a good choice for low beams as you generally don't need instant on, the warm up period for the HIDs is not an issue. LEDs are the common choice for high beams because of their ability to turn instantly on. However LED light disperses faster then HID and will never reach out as well as HIDs will. So the high beam is a mixed bag on which is really better, but it is generally accepted HIDs in low, LEDs in high, and you get the best available options.

I've been running HIDs for a long time, since about 2005, so I'm familiar with the limitations of running them in reflector lenses. I'm just disappointed that while running them with projectors I'm not happy with the way it looks or the light output. Sure it's bright, but there's dark spots in the projector so I'm just wondering if other people are having trouble with the alpha Rex lights

I would also try to get AlphaRex to send new covers for the holes. I have the exact same setup as you and all components fit nicely inside the headlights. With the holes they made in the covers you will get moisture inside (unless somehow sealed).

If you have AlfaOBD I highly recommend wiring in the DRLs to the dedicated circuit and adding the soft button to the radio.

Otherwise looks great! Sometimes, it takes someone really screwing something up to realize you can do many things better yourself!

Hey quick question. Is there a way to upgrade the DRL light ? To make them brighter ?

I have heard of folks using AlfaOBD to increase the voltage to the DRL circuit but don't know how effective it is as I haven't tried it myself...

Ok that's good to know I guess I will try it out. I guess the only way to probably do it is taking the thing apart and doing some surgery.

Which I will not even try lol.

Have another question?

How do I know what HID system I can shove in these headlights ? I checked out your link for Amazon and it looks like they don't offer them anymore. But it's ok I do t mind finding another source or even spending a little more money for better quality. Not saying you got something bad just don't mind spending extra 50 bucks more or so.

I like, the 55w Innovited 5000k HIDs. I had the 35w ballasts too but the 55w is much brighter and fits inside the housing just as well.

If you want bluer light, go 6000k...
