CC26C382-7B7C-4C6B-AB0F-EE4728A5EFFF.jpeg I bought this 2018 1500 truck at 1500km from the dealer. I got a fair price on it because the kms that were on it were from the managers using it whenever they needed to go somewhere so technically I’m registered as the first owner. I just recently started changing my own oil on my cars so I hadn’t ever checked the oil life monitor until now. It says that the monitor was reset 65,500km ago but the truck only has 17,000km. Should I be concerned? Now I’m left wondering if i got a good deal on the truck because some funny business went on with the odometer. I don’t want to take it back to the dealer in case they reset the monitor or come up with a bs answer. Anyone know what might be going on here?

What are the engine hours /idle hour's?

I believe others have had similar issues and it was a glitch

I have 200 driving hours and 40 idle hours which makes sense for the amount I’ve driven it. I was just thrown off by that weird oil monitor reading

Seems odd umder 18k and oil change that high on the counter. May want to plug it in and see what comes up on a scan tool.

Seems like average numbers for the mileage. Like I mentioned before I've seen a few with issues like that on here.

You can always Google your vin and see what free site's come up with for service records and/or go to a different dealer and have them verify the mileage

I've seen this happen when the cluster is replaced and programmed. The oil change calculator will look like that until reset.

65535 is an interesting number in computers. It is the decimal number represented by all 16 bits being set to 1. So a glitch or as someone mentioned a new cluster might show this because of a testing routine that sequentially sets all bits from 0 to 1 to test the logic board. If the oil life indicator on the new cluster is not reset at the factory or when it is put into service, the display would show 65535. The other possibility is an odometer rollback and the vehicle actually has at least 65535 kilometers on it. Does the number change the more you drive the vehicle?

What do the brake and fuel pedals look like? Do they show wear? I think you ought to be able to get an idea from that.

Could be a different cluster put in, with proper mileage programmed for your truck. I’ve heard of glitches as well, but once your reset your oil life option, it’ll be fine. The trucks VIN might be on record at oil change shops or the dealership as well

Ummmm....if two different trucks show the same exact mileage on the oil change indicator, i'm thinking glitch, not some major conspiracy.

I saw the same thing in my truck when programming a cluster. You can get other interesting results too until reset...IMAG0001.jpg

Nice.. 180 average speed... and still getting 16+ MPG...

I agree with others... do a reset and see if the oil life monitor goes back to normal. The same numbers from multiple users points to a system glitch and not some sneaky altered odometer.

I doubt very much anyone would screw with Odo's in this day and age.The real mileage is buried in the black box on every vehicle these days

you're close but keep in mind this is a can-bus network not a tcp-ip one :)

The network type makes no difference to the processor or other logic architecture that may be driving the display. If it is a 16 bit architecture, then 65535 would be a 16 bit register filled with 1's. Nothing to do with TCP/IP ports.
