That’s what I have. It bolts onto the hitch with two bolts but the hitch I currently have only has 4 holes for about a 3” drop and I need more. It has the hookups for load levelers and stabilizer bars on it.
So you have one of them gen-y hitches?
As far as whether or not you need a weight distribution hitch, here’s some good info regarding that.
Fastway trailer says that a specific weight doesn’t necessarily dictate went to use a weight distribution hitch, but it does say that once your trailer starts to weigh the same, or outweighs your tow vehicle then that’s when you need weight distribution hitch. They also say that if you’re pulling a large travel trailer or large enclosed trailer, something that’ll be greatly affected by Crosswinds that you should be using one of those weight distribution hitch is for that.
But according to a three-year-old article from
Truck Trend, they say that anything over 5000 pounds for a halfton but for a heavy duty, it’s anywhere from 6000 to 8500 pounds. I’m assuming that’s probably specifying between a 3/4-ton and one-ton, dually or SRW.
