Anyone run a sonnax line booster and Transgo shift kit?

RFE filter option thread. any rfe all you need is the metal thread upgrade, i recommend the hex threaded one they fit tighter. You can use old filter or any filter to knock the paint of the synthetic filter you are installing, like pictured by smoothee. Hold on to other filter then knock off the paint with whatever. ebay seams to be best source of screws. round billet ones are loose, these are tight.

Appreciate that.

I wonder if that ats 545 VB has a plate upgraded, might want to research that, I see they have a 545. I wonder if that will work in the hemi, I believe it was made for the 545 that went into cummins. Might call and ask them.

Which trans is that VB and oil filter for? Interested in doing same on my 65rfe.

It's for a 545rfe. As far as I know the only difference between 545rfe and 65rfe is torque converter and programming so I would think this would work for yours as well.
And I performed the QuickLearn with Alfa.

I have this VB plate ordered and will be installed with Transgo shift kit and the Circle D 2800-3000 stall converter. I have the TSP stage 2 cam and converter on their way. Everything going in end of January once all my parts arrive. 4:56 gears from Moe’s almost here as well.
New truck come February 2021.

Hell yeah! I've had that same converter about 8+ years now, really woke up the bottom end. Been dragging my feet on the cam and 4.56's though, gonna be a brand new truck for ya for sure!

Last bit of advice, I'd check the kit when you get it to see if every weakness in the video is addressed. Plus, you have an old solenoid as well, which is another weakness with the rfe. Probably goes plate and solenoid pretty equal fail points and then the rest of the small items. There is something called a gm solenoid upgrade, something to consider, but I'd consider at least replacing solenoid with the correct one. You need to get the correct color by year, probably white but I'm not 100.

Solenoid was replaced when trans was rebuilt in Feb on last year (it blew). She hasnt seen much miles since then. It was an upgraded solenoid, but I don’t know what was done to it. May just have to look into this for peace of mind moving forward. Do it right the first time my father always says, save money, time, and a headache!

It was white and it’s the updated solenoid pack. Bought that to go with the valve body plate and transgo shift kit. Should be pretty good to go now.

Thanks as well. I assume this will work on the 65rfe too? Was planning on purchasing sonnax's VB but maybe this is a better deal. For those that have done this how did you perform the quick learn after install? Im hoping to use alpha obd but not yet 100% on that.

You need to find out how many checkballs you have in your VB and that can be done with looking at the solenoid pack connector. If it’s white, you have 7, if it’s gray, which most if not all 65s are, you have 5. If you run the incorrect amount of checkballs in your vb, for instance using 7 check balls in a 5 check ball valve body with a 5 check ball separator plate, you will get pressure codes with a limp-in situation. Wont do any major damage, but the vehicle won’t be able to be driven.

Looking for an emoji that shows my mind blown by what you said. Maybe itll make more sense when i get down there. I was under the impression if you had grey then you have to upgrade to white. Then again im only just learning so maybe i misunderstood something. Appreciate the help.

Thank you, and the gray and white solenoids are pretty much the exact same. The White solenoid pack was pre MY2012, when RAMs had the option in the 3rd gen trucks for 1-2 manual select with the column shifter and before they made it to where the OD solenoid in the valve body was the one that pressured up the OD clutch and it the Multi-Select clutch.

The gray SP eliminated both of these as they weren’t needed anymore. Learning is good!

You can interchange a 5 check ball valve body (gray solenoid pack connector with 5 check ball designed separator plate, seen in image below) with a 7 check ball valve body with white SP and you’ll have no issues. d19edb7136ee1437aa534a3be9d747ef.jpg

7 check ball separator plate:

Hope this helps out people in the future who need it, and if you need more help in the future, send me a PM!

Hi y’all,
Just wondering if anyone has run both a sonnax line booster and a transgo shift kit? I have the 545rfe. Does this even make sense to run together? Would this have any negative effects on the truck/Trans?
Thanks for any feedback.

I know what you should do. Sell it and buy a duramax. You’ll never look back trust me.

Sorry man I don't. If I wasn't away working, I would check for you...but I wonder if it's because I have a pre '13, when the 8 speeds weren't an option... I do remember having to dig around a little bit in the software before I did finally come across the RFE Quicklearn option.
