About to swap from a F150 to a Laramie or Limited 1500. My ‘17 F150 has had just about every main issue that those trucks can get (oil pan leak, cam phasers, leaking sunroof and broken tracks). Before I order a new truck I am wondering if there are known issues with the sunroofs in the Rams? If so I will skip it. Also, any other things to be aware of (I am going to stay away from the 12” screen).

Some people have had problems with leaks, mostly caused by drain tubes not correctly installed in the rear cab wall. I'm pretty sure most of those were 2019's though. I haven't had any problems with the sunroof on either of our 2020's (Laramie and Limited). Like any system on any vehicle, there is a potential for problems. I wouldn't base a purchasing decision on that. I wouldn't ever buy a new vehicle if I did that LOL.

no leaks on the sunroof for my 2018 power wagon. however, the 3rd brake light leaked, causing me to get warranty replacement for 3rd brake light, headliner, and the metal in the rear seats is rusted now. dealership wouldnt warranty out the seats since its surface rust i guess. once the replaced the brake light i took it off and found out why it leaks. the "gasket" they use looks like a ******* sponge. i went to home depot and got the 1/4" automotive weather stripping. ****** aint leaking anymore.

oh yeah, this also caused my sub amp to short out causing me to have to get it sent off for warranty repair. dealership wouldnt touch responibility on that one. lucky for me sound vision in valdosta, ga has amazing customer service and sent it out for warranty repair, and since they discontinued that model of amp, upgraded me to a 1600watt. which in turn caused the subs to need to be upgraded.... but i digress

Thanks. F150s have similar leaking issues, but seem to be very common. Not basing an entire purchasing decision on this, but depending on how common sunroof issues appear to be on Rams will be a deciding factor on whether or not to forego a sunroof. If I ever ended up in another F150 it would not have a sunroof.

Are there issues with the 12" touchscreens? I don't need one, but the vehicle I'm about to order comes with it, so...

My 2020 3500 was a nightmare and I almost got rid of the truck because of the 12". The dealership had it for a week a month or so ago and it has been fine since. We have a company vehicle 2020 2500 with the 8.4. The 8.4" works better with UConnect and the phone. With the 12" you can't reply to a text UNLESS you are using Carplay or Android Auto. The 8.4 still lets you respond as before. You don't get the monthly vehicle report with the 12" but you do with the 8.4. This is because the 12" uses Guardian and the 8.4 does not. I will not be paying for Guardian once the trial expires. USELESS to me. If the Carplay or Android Auto was wireless it would be a whole different ball game. Has to be plugged into the phone on the 2020's. Not sure on 21's

There are people who have had issues with the 12 inch screens. But people have also had problems with the 8.4 inch. Our Laramie has the 8.4 and our Limited has the 12 inch. We haven't had any issues with either one. My daughter has had issues with the 8.4 inch display in her Rebel, which was replaced under warranty. My bigger complaint with the 12 inch display is the loss of some of the physical controls, like the vented/heated seats and steering wheel heat switches.

I have a high mileage 2019 1500 Limited with the pano roof. I have had to adjust the glass panel due to slight wind noise. Easier to do it yourself than drive to a dealer. Haven't had a sunroof leak since I left GM. I've had 11 sunroofs on Mopar products with the 12th one is ordered.

Thank you. This is good to know. I wanted to stay away from the 12" and there are good reasons for doing so. Appreciate it.

I've had sunroofs in three of my Rams ('08, '10, '17) none of which had any issues.

I'd have to look again but basically open the roof just enough to expose mounting screws that can be loosened. Move roof to desired location and tighten. I remember that I had to do that on my 94 LHS as well. The dealer told me they would need to remove the roof, adjust and reinstall and repeat until they got it right. They refused to repair it even though it was under used warranty. Took the car home and fixed it myself in about 10 minutes.
