I have a 2016 RAM with 6.4 HEMI engine. I want to upgrade the transmission pan so that it has a drain plug and maybe hold some extra fluid because I tow frequently with this truck. I am having a hard time finding a good upgrade pan. I'm pretty sure that my transmission is a 66RFE but most of the pans I am finding for the 2500 trucks are for the diesels which have a 68RFE. Does anyone out there know if a 68RFE pan will work on a 66RFE transmission? If not got any good suggestions for an upgrade pan that will fit on a 66RFE?

Thanks,
Bob

You can get standard replacement pan from Dorman for 66RFE with plug. FCA still calls this their "deep" pan. Be careful - there are two main filters for 66RFE transmissions - one for shallow pan, one for deep pan. I just changed mine 1st time here is the info...

Deep pan oil filter is MOP-05013470AE - Mopar Replacement Automatic Transmission Filter
There is a 2nd filter inside the pan, it is a canister:
MOP-05179267AD - Mopar Replacement Automatic Transmission Filters

The Dorman replacement pan is:
Dorman Transmission Pans 265-870

One more question. When I take the old pan off and change the filters, about how many quarts of tranny fluid will it take to top it off?

12 quarts is a full fill for the RFE...did you keep your canister filter off and drain the torque converter? If not, your truck is horrifically overfilled.
