Looking for tonneau cover options for a Ram 1500 5x7 bed with ram boxes. I see all the many different options on covers out there and I was wondering if anyone had opinions or comments on the cover that you can get from the dealer. Im just looking for a simple tri-fold cover. Does the cover from the dealer keep the cargo area dry?

I have the OEM 4 section fold up solid cover and it seals good but it only folds up to the last section and not right up against the cab.I don't put anything big in the back so not really an issue for me.I would look at the Bakflip ones.

My factory tri-fold keeps most of the bed dry enough. There is always water incursion but it's just a bit at the tailgate.

I don't know about the Mopar cover, but I have a Tyger Auto T3 Soft Tri-Fold on my truck and I only get water in the bed via near the tailgate when I go through a high pressure car wash. And it's about half the price of the Mopar.

I don't know if that helps you any.

I believe the factory tonneau is a bakflip g2. It’s okay, but the bakflip mx4 is a better step up and you can close the tailgate without having to lift the tonneau.

I put a Truxedo Pro X15 on my 2020 1500 with Ramboxes. It’s a roll-up cover that seals very well. Some don’t like roll ups but l as mentioned in an earlier post some of the flip ups won’t open all the way to the front of the bed and I I don’t like those restrictions on a truck bed.

I actually have been really considering the pro x15. Kind of like having full access to the bed and I heard they have a great warranty.

I bought a rough country soft trifold for $250 and it does a pretty good job of keeping bed dry but not perfect. One thing to watch with any bed cover is to make sure they don't work themselves forward so the front touches the back of the cab. It will make a rubbing sound while driving that you swear is coming from inside the cab.

We weren't impressed with the factory tri-fold that came on our Limited w/ramboxes. In fact, we replaced it with the bakflip MX4 and really like that cover. The biggest problem with the rambox beds is the large gaps at the corners of the tailgate. No bed cover closes those gaps, and they can let a lot of water inside. I added some weatherstripping to those areas in both of our 5th gens, and it really decreased the amount of water that gets inside, even at the car wash. These are the gaps I'm talking about on my Laramie with the Truxedo LoPro roll up cover...

I like full use of the bed too but my 4wheeler has a tight fit and it's those side rails that encroach the bed 2+inches that bother me.

I put a Low Pro on my 2017 Laramie and it is perfect for what I need. Wife has a Deuce 2 and wish they had one for my 17 Ram when I was looking for one!

Waiting on a Retrax PowertraxPro MX to arrive. Had the manual Pro MX on the 1500 but the wife said power on this one as she can't reach since the 2500 is so much taller. Good news is she won $1,000 on lotto the day i ordered so it's half price!

Still happy with the Truxedo deuce?
Yep...

Works as good as the day I installed it...still no water intrusion to the bed. I have been getting supplies as Home Deport and 8' trim pieces will fit under the cover with the front flipped up and then through my back window just fine.... loading the bed for cross country trips is a lot easier too- big suitcases near the cab and all the other stuff needing to get to quickly are at the tailgate...

I'm confused by the pics of this cover. Is it a roll-up and tri-fold cover?

Edit: Nevermind...I scrolled down the page and answered my own question LOL. That's a pretty cool cover. Now, if they only made a Rambox version.

I'm 100% satisfied with my Truxedo Pro X15, 2021 warlock 1500 classic. very little water gets in the bed. And I put it on myself!
