Hi all,

I am considering replacing my 2nd gen ram with a 3rd gen Hemi. I have found a gentleman on Facebook marketplace who has a 2007 SLT for sale that he says has a bad MDS solenoid. Should I run away as fast as I can? or is this not a very big deal?

The owner says he has the truck set to tow/haul so that MDS does not kick in and so therefore he doesn't use it. I would obviously fix this as soon as possible if I were to buy this truck.

What I am asking is if there any other underlying issues I should be worried about? Is there anything else that could be affected that may eventually lead to the infamous Hemi tick?

OR

Is the MDS solenoid going to be an easy fix and I have nothing really to worry about and I walk away with a steal of a truck?

If that is truly the problem then it is an easy fix. If it actually runs and drives just fine without MDS trying to engage then it should be an easy fix. Hell, you could probably tune MDS out and just run it that way without replacing the solenoid if it truly is the solenoid that is the problem. Did he bother to run codes? How does he know for sure it's the solenoid?
