Help. Today I was adding tow mirrors to my 1999 ram 2500. I committed the cardinal sin and accidentally pinched the wires on the driver side mirror. This resulted in the normal blowing of the fuse and all that. I have since fixed the mirror wiring and have re-checked the passenger side as well. The problem I’m having now is it the drivers mirror only adjusts inward and down, it will not adjust up or out. The passenger mirror moves in all four directions. I did try pushing the mirror in those directions to reset the travel path and no avail. I also tried swapping in the original mirrors, but the same problem exists with them. No idea what I’ve done wrong, any advice would be appreciated

I would start by re-checking the repaired wires.

Thanks rule18, I will pull the mirror and check it one more time, but the problem is it happens with the new mirror and with the old mirror. They would both have to be damaged in the same way and the Old mirror was working fine before I removed it

Oh, I missed that it was happening with the old mirror as well. Fuses seated properly?

Yes fuses seated properly and all other items on the circuit, such as domelight, are working correctly.

Ghosts in the machine? Maybe the wires got pinched/stripped in more than one place?

I rechecked all five wires, if I’m reading the schematic correctly The black wires are for the mirror heater so that just left the other three. All are ringing correctly. Is there a wiring diagram that shows the switch for a 99? I’m wondering if it is damaged internally. In a way that’s only affecting the right mirror up and out

I guess that's possible, but I'm not sure the original short would have damaged the switch. Someone else is gonna have to chime in here.
