I researched a great deal, ended up passing. Would block my bed light, have to cut bed liner, and capacity is not that great. I figured that a tool box is more versatile, I can take in and out of the truck easier, and $200 for what is a glorified tool box is just crazy.

I almost pulled the trigger on a set because they look cool and convienant. I didn't like the limited weight limit as I wanted to use them for heavy stuff. The main reason I couldn't do it was I just coukd not drill all those holes into a brand new truck, just could not do it

Yes, I've looked at these too, but was discouraged by these reviews from people that bought them. Apparently they just aren't heavy duty enough.

I had them on my Tundra, and I absolutely loved them. What a great use of generally unused space!

I've got one on the driver's side...bought it used. I keep a few tools, my hitch (non-WD) and straps in it. The plastic seems like it'll crack if you man-handle it too much or just toss heavy objects in it. It's held up well for the last 4 years...no issues with cracking or the hinge. Super easy install (yes, you need to drill into the bed...not convenient if you have a plastic bed liner) and it's real convenient to keep tools in. Would I buy it again? Yes, but I'd look for deals/used again.

How many holes do you have to drill for each box bracket and locking bracket? Isn't it like around 8 holes for each side

I bought a pair of used ones pretty cheap. The brackets don`t fit my truck very well but otherwise they are holding up okay - I think these were on a different model of truck so need to cut and weld these brackets or buy the correct ones.

I actually have one since my prior RAM had Ramboxes and I miss the storage. I also hate totes or crates in the bed. Mine is under a hard tonneau and is holding up well. I have it packed pretty good with some rags, a large towel to lay on, folding army shovel, various hand tools, first aid kit, air compressor, inverter, etc.
I only have one on my driver side...two would've taken up too much space and since I utilize the floor boxes I don't have that much extra stuff to store, although the nice thing is they lift off the hinge for easy removal if you need extra space(when it's in the unlatched position).
I also researched a lot of them and while I personally think it is overpriced, the others like Cabelas, Dee Zee, etc were flimsy and I didn't like how they mounted. They also didn't swing out which I find convenient with a tonneau.

My heavier items (hitch receiver, D-Ring, etc) are in my floor boxes. I wouldn't load this too heavy.

I'd say I have about 25 lbs in mine. It operates smooth, doesn't sag and latches/unlatches easy...But no way would I think it would hold 75 lbs and hold up.

I've had them for about 3 years now. I don't keep anything really heavy in them (maybe 20 pounds per box) and the plastic has started to crack and one of the boxes is hard to latch into place, but to be fair, that truck bed gets really hot during an Arizona summer. If I were to do it again, I probably wouldn't get them. Part of the reason I got them is that I got a pretty good deal for them. $300 for both installed.

So is that 6 for the tool box bracket and then 4 for the latch that locks and holds it up and into place.?

No, sorry....6 total. 4 at the tailgate and 2 towards the wheel well. Then the box slides onto the pins of the bracket.

Ok, that makes more sense. And not to be controversial but I just looked up the instal video and it shows 7 ( so only 1 difference , no big deal). My problem is those 7 bolts in the video are huge lag screws. So 14 for both sides. I suppose you could do less screws but that would increase the chance of the screws ripping through bed and then you have to use bigger screws yet, ugghhhhhhhhhh, that freaks me out , sorry can't help it. I would definitly do it if I had an older truck but I just can't do it to a new 85k truck, I'm finicky about drilling holes. Here's the screen shot I captured

Make sure you look at the RAM installation. Mine took 6 total. The brackets are specific to each truck brand. I think that is a Silverado.

And yes, I did hesitate about drilling through the bed but then said...This is semi-permanent and will serve a purpose. I'd sell it with the truck anyway (or most likely trade it in). Also....If someone wants the truck, I really doubt this would be a deal-breaker. People put on running boards, bull-bars, etc. It's not really massive damage. I have a spray-on bedliner, so someone can always fill the holes and touch up the bedliner if it really bothered them.

Go to the hardware store and get some stainless machine screws or bolts, stainless large area washers and stainless nylon nuts.

Have been thinking about these forever. Who has the best deal on them?
