can you turn off the interior light dim when wipers activate headlights?

Coming from a 2018 Durango, and generally expecting the 2020 Ram to have the latest and greatest of everything, I was really surprised to find that it appears to lack a feature I came to enjoy. When an occasional daytime rain shower activates the headlights (auto on with wipers) the interior dash illumination would not dim unless it was truly dark enough to need to dim. However, my 2020 Ram does not do this. I went through as many menus as I could find, and did not find a setting for this.

Is there a setting for this?

At night I have my dash almost on the dimmest setting. But like in your case in the day time I have to manually turn up the dash lights. Then I forget and the first time after at night I am blinded by the dash lights

For starters, I don’t know why even the Durango would have this feature unless it just has really bright dash lights but even in my 2018 Ram Limited that has the “lights on when wipers are on” feature but it doesn’t dim the dash lights either when the wipers are on. IMHO there’s really lots reason for it to do that unless it just gets really really dark during the day....lol.

Both my '15 and '20 RAMs dim the dash lights whenever the headlights are on (regardless of whether auto or manual activation). If the dash isn't bright enough, turn the dial to Max.

That said, the only vehicle I've ever owned that had "good" dash panel light management is my 15 year old Porsche Boxster. The dash lights have no connection to headlight/running light situation - if it's dark they come up, if it's bright they fade away. And, I have to say, the way they do it is genius: when the lights are off, the background is white/light, and the numbers are dark, but when the lights come on, the numbers get bright, and because it's dark, the background fades away.

Just love driving my Boxster home in the evening, through the frequently changing light of our dappled tree-lined road and seeing the dials change back and forth. Not QUITE as exhilarating as listening to the N/A flat six wailing through the FabSpeed tuned exhaust, but very satisfying nonetheless...

Fwiw my 17 DOES do this.

I will look for settings the next time I'm in my truck.

Yeah, please do because on my 18- although I don’t think it needs it, I haven’t seen anywhere where I can change to do that.

I havent forgotten you guys!

I should be driving my truck later today, should be enough daylight for the headlights not to kick in but I will need the wipers so I should get a good read on it working (which Im sure it does) but more importantly if I play with any settings to actually disable it.

At one point I thought it was linked to a setting meant for automatic day/night changeover, but I think that is mostly for the radio and nav display (light mode vs dark mode)
