So yesterday when leaving work I hopped in the truck and it wouldn't start unless I pressed the key fob against the start button. Said no key fob recognized.

When it started I got no abs, traction control, the E brake light was on. And the truck would not come out of park.

I reset the computer, finally managed to get it into drive.

By the time I got to the autoparts store all light had gone off. I could remote start the truck. Everything was fine.

But it had this U1267 code stored.

Any advise for a at home fix before I make the dreaded trip to the dealer?

Sounds like there is a flakey connection somewhere, or wiring harness connection is loose. Your error code is for the transmission shift module (good probability on the dash) is not communicating.

Where would one even start looking for a sketchy connection? I didnt get any message mentioning anything to do with the trans.

Jusy trying to have a look for myself before I take it to the stealership.

I also just went back out to the truck and started it... no messages at all now lol

very first thing I would check is the battery connections. I know lots of people have had issues with park sensor connections.

Check the connection behind the shift knob, also the ones on the transmission itself. There's some connections on the frame rails check those too.

Thanks guys. I know the battery connection is good. Because I disconnected it. And reconnected it when this first happened.

Going to look at removing the shift dial. Should be fun lol

if it has cleared and not come back I would not mess with the shift dial yet. I would check all the other simple connections especially the park sensor connections being they are most exposed. very well could have just been a one time glitch

Not really a 1 time deal though. It did it yesterday leaving work at noon. Drove to autoparts store to get the scan tool. So had to turn it off. Then back on to read codes. By then all lights had gone off. But had this store code.

Then went out off roading all evening with no weird lights.

Woke up this morning to take the wife to work, and the dash was lit up like a christmas tree again.

Left it for an hour, went back out. Started it up. And no lights.

So in definately thinking it's a loose connection somewhere, rather than a failure of a conponent.

I judy hate electrical stuff, and had no idea where to start looking lol

I’d check those connectors, and make sure they are seated, especially the ones under the truck, before you fill them up with dirt and water off-roading.

Ok will do.

Another burning question.. am I supposed to have a boot around the front drive shaft? Looks like my **** has been slinging grease everywhere!658208c42c97fcc3deb02a91d40aff40.jpg

This happened to mine as well. Dealer ended up replacing the entire front driveshaft assembly under warranty. Quite a bit of lead time for this part so get in sooner than later and you might want to hold off on any heavy 4 wheelin until you get it addressed.

Oh ****. Looking at yours. I dont have a rubber seal there at all!!
Edit: to add. Do you know why they replaced your entire front shaft? Can there be some slight play in there?

Yeah I questioned the whole "assembly replacement" as well.

I guess the actual boot/seal can't be ordered by itself and had to be ordered along with the whole assembly.

Sometimes they just do that stuff because it ain’t worth the time to swap parts. Infiniti wanted to replace the whole subframe for $3000 dollars on my wife’s g37 just because the rear differential bushing was going out. They told her no other way to do it. It was no longer under warranty. Suffice to say, I told her never go back there and swapped that bushing out for $100.

Update.

So dealer said the driveshaft needs replacing. No surprise there.

But apparantly they saw that my truck had been "tuned" (their words) for the bigger tire size. Which they are blaming the DTC codes on. They told me that the 2020 rams can only have things like tire size changed at the dealership, and anything else could cause these problems.

I un plugged the tazer before I went in. But did not unmarry it from the system. Stupid decision on my part.

So safe to say I'm not looking forward to what will come of this so far....

Any advice?

did you ask if they could change tire size for you? for sure they can see that the tire size has been changed from oem 31.6.
