Hey guys. First post here.

recently bought a 2001 Cummins. It’s on a. 4.5 inch lift in the rear and a leveling kit and 2 inch spring up front. And with the weight of the front the rear sits about an inch and a half higher than the front. Barely noticeable but it bothers me. So my question is, could i take out the 4.5 inch blocks in the rear and put 3 inch blocks to make it sit level, or would that not work due to the shocks possibly bottoming out in the rear?

thanks for any input

Well first off welcome to the forums. And secondly when you decide what to do just remember to get measurement’s at all four corner’s and try to do it with about 1/2 tank of gas, as a gallon of gas weigh’s about 6.3lbs. 30 gallon tank 15 gallons = 94.5 lbs all on the driver’s side. This will allow for variables between tank levels and about where most of us spend the majority of of time between 1/4 - 1/2 - 3/4 tank.
Get it on as close to level ground as you can, take you’re measurements and get a median and go from there.
You should try to use a jack to get the desired ride height you want but remember that when you raise the rear the front will drop down in relation. So you may only need 3/4” of lift in the rear. And remember dead level is hard to get and may not truly be the look you want.

Thank you for the response. I think you read it backwards though! My truck sits higher in the rear and i don’t want to lift it anymore than it is. I would like to drop the rear end 1.5 inches. There is currently a 4.5 inch block in the rear. Could i put a 3 inch block in there to do that. Or would i have to get new shocks as well. Also i measured with just below half a tank of fuel! Thanks again

Wish i was a little tall in the rear .mine squats when i tow .im going to air bag it .too keep it level ..you should have no issues.putting smaller blocks .dont trim the u bolts till you find the right block combo you want .drive it to settle then check if the shocks bottom out when you jump up and down on rear bumper.if they do youll want shorter shocks .
