Thanks for your reply SNB. To your questions:

• Unfortunately I don't have any idea how to install something like CPU-Z.

• Yes, I believe a GPS antenna is plugged in.

• There is a AUX mode on the touch screen and I see in the console a 3.5mm input port (just discovered it) !! This is huge !! If I can find a 12VDC player with this kind of output, I'm in !!

• As with my first bullet, I woudln't have any idea how to copy files into the Music folder. I know it can be done because there are a couple albums stored by the previous owner.

To add CPU-Z, connect the radio to your home WiFi and then open up the Google Play Store app from the radio, from there you can search for and install the CPU-Z app and open it to get system details.

If GPS is plugged in you can again go to the Google Play Store and download your favorite navigation app like Waze or Google Maps to use as your default navigation app. Once downloaded, you will need to set it as the default NAV app in the radio settings menu.

Unfortunately, the stock Aux port will not work on these radios. Once you get a feel for using MP3 files instead of CDs, I'm sure you'll find it a much better solution (and you won't need a fancy anti-shock/skip CD player ;)...

So here's a question:

In the console, there are side by side a USB port and an AUX port. Is that USB port a "Media USB port" (seeable by the Head unit) ? Or it just a generic charging port ??

Yes, you should be able to use your factory USB port. That is how you can copy music to the radio or conversely play music directly from a USB thumb drive that has your music on it.

Thanks again SKB.

In looking closer, I see that I have 2 USP ports:
• One on the lower dash that clearly displays a 'battery' icon and only charges; it does so whether the ignition is on or off.
• One in the center console (next to the AUX jack) that displays the classic USB2.0 icon. This port will charge only if the ignition is ON, and otherwise appears to be a data port which I believe you say can be used to "copy music to the radio or conversely play music directly from a USB thumb drive that has your music on it".

Your comment "the stock Aux port will not work on these radios" surprises me as I have seen several posts elsewhere that claim the opposite. Some day I will rig up a player (maybe an old Walkman) just to test your claim. As to your push to use USB thumb drives as a music source, I get that (and like your point about antishock/antiskip) but have resisted the hassle of loading them with any of the 200 CDs I have. PITA ...

I Googled CPU-Z and get the impression that it's a utility aimed at PCs with a Windows OS. Maybe it also works with Android, which I suspect is the core of my Head unit.

Finally, when you say "connect the radio to your home WiFi and then open up the Google Play Store app from the radio" - that sounds logical but leaves me scratching my head. Unfortunately, nowhere in any of the modes do I see anything that invites me to connect to my WiFi, which I could theoretically do with the vehicle parked in my driveway.

Sorry to be so thick.

It is an Android based appliance. You will need to go into the android settings to connect to WiFi.

CPU-Z works on many platforms and you will be installing the Android App.

You can use the AUX inputs on the back of your radio to add an Aux device but the OEM Aux jack in your console will not work. You will also not be able to control the device from the AUX screen.

OK ... duly noted. Then I must wonder pray tell:
What is the AUX port inside the console for ??

It's not discussed in any of the documentation I got with the vehicle.

Its for the AUX connection to a factory radio.

factory back up camera doesn't work, anyone been able to get it to work on the 4GB+128GB Android 9.0 PX6. original radio was the 8.4AN. side note anyone been able to install a USB camera for the front?
Thanks
You can install an analog camera for the front. I believe these only support USB cameras for the DVR feature.

As far as factory backup camera, it should work. Ensure the rear camera male plug on the truck side of the harness goes to the correct female rear camera plug on the radio side.

I just got my 2014 ram and it has the Tesla style radio, everything works great except the steering wheel radio buttons . Any idea how to sync them up? I have tried doing it on the radio however the steering wheel that displays on there is different than the one I have in truck. The radio is a PX3 model.

First try switching from Hi-z to low-z in that menu and rebooting the radio.

And if my last doesn't work, open the console menu on the the radio home screen and switch the measurements from American to metric and back again. It should work again (I don't know why this works)...

I know I’m jumping into this thread way late. But I just ordered my Gen IV T-style Linkswell for my 2020 2500. It should be here on Tuesday and will replace the crap 5-inch Uconnect radio. I considered the 8.4 Uconnect, but it is impossible to find the right part numbers and the 12.1 inch screen is pretty cool. I’ll primarily use it for CarPlay, but I love the idea of full screen Google Maps too!

I’ll be sure to post some pics and feedback on my install experience once I get it installed.

@JustLovett0 have you had a chance to play with one of these installed yet? I have no experience with the new ones...

Yes sir. I've installed one before, and I've been in 4 different trucks with the new Linkswell 12" radios.
Let me know if you have any questions on it. The truck is very similar to the 2014-2018 Ram's, internally.

I don't but @SkywalkerPhD just ordered one from you guys and had some questions I couldn't answer. I was pointing him in your direction.

Hi guys, this really is the mega thread! I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place, this is my first time so please forgive my newbie mistakes. I’ve got a px6 radio that I’m trying to install....maybe I forgot to tell them that I had a factory back up cam installed, but either way I did not receive an adapter to suit the original, non RCA style video jack that went into the back of the uconnect. Does anyone know what the original equipment jack is called? Or better yet, could anyone post a link to where I can buy an adapter to convert the jack to RCA?
Thanking you in advance.
John

I recently purchased a PX-6 Six Core 10.4 Tesla Style Head Unit for my 2013 RAM 2500 Mega Cab Big Horn truck. I purchased it from Phoenix Automotive and I had a great experience with them. It shipped within a week of ordering and I was able to track it from its shipping origin to my house. It took 5 days from start of shipment to delivery. I bought it with both Apple and Android capability. There were no instructions on how to install it, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube to watch and assist. My installation went without a hitch. The USB port in the center console works and I added the other USB cable to a port that I installed in the center tray of the center console. The only problem I had was that the HVAC temperature units were in Celsius. Phoenix Automotive was responsive to my emails and I even provided a video of my issue with setting the Temperature Unit measurement. I could change it, but it would switch back after Save and Reboot. The fix was updating the a Can Bus file. Now the unit reads correctly. My old unit was failing in that it would not always startup and especially when it was hot in the truck. I have attached the before and after image.

Shipped in a week? Responsive to emails?

Are you sure you bought from the same Phoenix Automotive that most of us other members bought from, and had nothing but a nightmare experience? Took 65 days for mine to ship, emails were ignored, promised phone calls never came, lied too over the phone, asked for supervisor and was told "we dont have supervisors"... it was a mess and so unorganized. Trash company.
