Overall, love many things about my 2009 Laramie.
Dislikes: 7 service visits for broken manifold bolts or related exhaust gas leaks.
Rusted out rocker panels even though I frequently wash and maintain.

Welcome aboard, man.

But even though that is an ongoing problem with their ****** design, a member on here- probably in this thread, or the other one just like it that’s for the newer trucks, told me a really good way to fix that problem for good when it happens is to take a grinder and level off the flanges on the stock manifolds because supposedly they’re at a slope which puts an odd angle on the bolts, which I guess is what helps contribute to them breaking or, putting on pretty much any good set of aftermarket headers with better flanges that are thicker and flatter should cure the broken manifold bolt issue for good.

I don't like that I bought it 6 days ago and there's a squeak now coming from what sounds like the rear when going over small bumps.

When I put my driver's side window down on warm days, it's makes a very squeaky sound all the way down.
Anyone else experience this? Just started happening last year.

Try cleaning the felt with some alcohol on a rag. Could be something sticky in there.

Story time!

Years ago I was fishing and came to my truck and saw someone decided I’d be super funny and cool to dump soda all over my driver window and door etc... it was hilarious! Anyways, it was a ***** to clean but alcohol is pretty good, doesn’t really harm anything and evaporates.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.
I use alcohol on a daily basis at work too. Didn't even think of it. (Not the drinkable alcohol unfortunately.)

And if that doesn’t work give it a good look and If it’s not that maybe a squeaky metal arm or whatever inside the door. In that case maybe a lube or something. I know that would drive me crazy lol

Sounds like you need to go see the dealer and use your warranty.

PLASTIC Wheel Covers, If you don't clean them very often the brake dust melds into the warm plastic wheel covers and is a bear to clean at that point. Thank god for old tooth brushes and baking soda.

Hmm, I don’t think I ever had that problem on my old 08. Granted, I tried keeping it clean but even when that truck was ten years old, those chrome-clad wheels still looked very good for being chrome-plated plastic.

The one thing which really bothers me about my 2019 Classic is the lack of radio controls on the steering wheel. At this point that should be standard on every car, the driver shouldn't have to take a hand off the wheel to change stations or adjust volume.

I agree, these days it’s more of a safety feature like you said but these days anymore, that’s one of the features that they try to entice you to spend more money and buy the more upgraded model that comes with it.

It’s just like with the back up camera which I don’t know if you have, but that’s on there now because it’s kind of a mandated safety feature.

But at least one thing about it though, you can easily add that stuff and whatever else you want for probably a lot cheaper than it would be to buy the truck that automatically had it. At least there is one good reason to spend money on the lesser expensive truck and then you can add whatever you want later on instead of having to pay extra for it coming that way.

Backup cameras are federally mandated on all new vehicles. Yet another "safety" crutch reducing the skills demanded from drivers. Though, on the other hand, I don't need to worry about seeing out my back window anymore... and as poor as the design of new vehicles is that's a good thing. My 2012 model didn't have the cam, and between the tinted back glass and the tinted camper shell glass visibility straight back was essentially zero.

Could have cared less about a backup camera until I backed up to a trailer hitch and was able to put the ball directly under it by myself, remember thinking I got to have one of these. Don't rely on it for anything else but worth the money to me for that sole reason.

While I know lots of rock chips isn't normal but IMG_20210629_0459056.jpgI'm concerned about the paint and steel treatment used on the new trucks after seeing a co-workers front bumper section flake and rust badly around every rock chip on his 5th gen. A little rust I understand, but this is a lot for a 2yr old truck. It's not as many chips as you might think at a glance. Most of the marks are bugs from the highway, but the spots that look like peeling paint and major rust are exactly that.

The build quality of my Ram is less than ideal. I've had lots of little things go wrong/break over the last four years of ownership. Luckily most of them are easy fixes and I can easily do them myself.

- Drivers headlight housing had water buildup. Tried everything but ended up getting a new one. Now the passenger one has water in it...
- Rear window leaks. The third brake light one was easy to fix. The other was caused by the poor drainage design with Rams with the sliding rear window. Took me forever to pinpoint and fix it.
- Sun vizor clip on the drivers side just snapped off one day. Very easy to replace but of course it's held on by a torx bit.
- Wiring connector going to the A/C compressor disintegrated. This one I did not fix myself, cost $700.
- A/C compressor is loud when on. I hear a whining sound at low speeds. Not really a problem but I find it annoying.
- Evap purge solenoid went bad at 50k. OEM replacement part was also bad, so I had to replace it twice.
- The rims have a plastic chrome piece that's adhered on. A couple of them are starting to bubble/peel.
- Door pillar vinyl starting to degrade. Will probably remove at some point.
- General maintenance is surprisingly difficult, but that's common with modern cars/trucks. That oil filter location

Nothing here is a deal breaker for me at least. The ride quality, engine power and transmission more than make up for it.

Luckily I haven’t had that problem with mine and I’ve even had mine apart quite a few times now and have even modified the access panel on the back of the lights just so that I could run the wiring for the HID headlights that I used to have. No condensation as of yet, knock on wood. I did however have an issue with condensation in one of my fog light housings but that was because when I upgraded those to LED, I didn’t have the bulb turned all the way so it wasn’t exactly sealing up the hole.

Wow, the only problem I’ve had with my visors in my truck was from a broken screw simply because the dealer shop must’ve over tightened the screw after they replaced my headliner. All the sudden one day as I was putting my sunshield in my windshield, I was folding down the sunvisor and then all the sudden the head of one of those screws just fell out in my lap. At least one of the many Mopar part sites online has those screws. They’re expensive, $25 later I had two brand new screws show up in my mailbox so I have an extra if another one breaks.

- A/C compressor is loud when on. I hear a whining sound at low speeds. Not really a problem but I find it annoying.
I’m thinking it’s not supposed to be noisy like that so you might wannago get that checked out.

Quite frankly, I don’t even see the worth at all even mentioning that because it really ruins the look so it’s almost kind of like, be glad it is what it is because it’s so easy to remove and make your truck look so much better without it.

Barely even six months in after having my truck when it was brand new, I never was really crazy about that vinyl strip just because I didn’t like the looks of it and because the bottom of the strip on both sides had a wrinkle in them from the screw that holds the rear end of the window trim on and after seeing a couple of pictures were other guys have removed them, I didn’t hesitate and I peeled mine off and I actually love the look way better.

Surprisingly, they’ve had that same design ever since at least 2008 because that’s how my old 2008 ram was where they put the oil filter on the bottom of the engine right above the front axle and whether or not it only matters on the four-wheel-drive trucks, they could’ve changed that along time ago but I just went to Walmart and got me one of those plastic Tupperware pans that started out to be like three or 4 inches tall- the whole pan was like a 12 x 6 pan but I got my scissors out and I trimmed the height of the pan down about an inch and a half tall and that works great for slipping it under there and catching the oil without making a huge mess.

The seats and how they all rust from the inside out in the rear wheel arch.
