Weirdest thing- truck engine quits when revved. This truck has new coil, new fuel pump and has never had issues till I was using it to pull another truck out of the snow in a ditch. Ended up having to tow it home due to the revving issue as it wouldn’t restart at all. I removed the battery to charge it and truck started fine but died as soon as I revved engine. When running it runs smoothly until you give it gas. When it dies it’s like you shut off the switch- no sputtering or backfire at all.

After having thought about it, do you have any codes? Whens the last time it had a cap and rotor button. My 5.9 started missing above 2500 last year when the cap and button went bad.

They put the cat right below the passenger head. It can cause the passenger head to crack. I used a magnaflow y pipe and put a universal cat further back. No rear o2 codes. Just a thought.

The cat was removed way before I got the truck. Has the front oxygen sensor then the glass pack , the second one isn’t there . It has always run fine with this setup though. I’m thinking it’s just a sensor on the engine or the engine control module as it shuts off at about 3000 rpm like you turned it off- no sputtering, backfire or anything. If I pump the accelerator as its dying I can smell fuel after it quits

I'd look at the Distributor cap and button. Ignition module is built in to the ECU.
