Can the '21 1500 Limited be ordered with the shift lever transmission (in Canada)?

Hi,

Newbie here so apologies but this seemed the most applicable of the subforums for my question. What I'm wondering is if it is possible to order the '21 1500 Limited with the shift lever transmission (from the TRX) instead of the hokey dial? Specifically with the 5.7 Hemi. And I'm in Canada so that may or may not be a factor.

Figured someone on here should probably know. :)

Thanks!

Not anymore as far as i know. The shift lever on the column was only available with the old 6 speed transmission, same with the console shift lever .You'll get used to the dial in short order, lol. You might be able to still get the column shifter and 6 speed in the 4th Gen Classic's,but i don't think it's ever been offered in the new body 5th Gen,even in Canada. If you have lots of money to burn, there are outfits like Hellraiser who have put the Jeeps console shifter into the 4th gen trucks, but i don't know if anybodies put the console shifter into a newer 5th Gen.
What part of Calgary are you in,we hold a weekly Wed night meet in Airdrie for the cars, but trucks are always welcome, and invited. This was one of the meets last fall with a bunch of local R/T's showing up.

Thanks @Wild one. Seems odd that it is factory standard for the TRX to have the console shifter, but not be available in any other trim level. Odd in that it's a pretty expensive change for a production line. And than you for the invite. I'm actually just looking at getting the 1500 Limited at the moment - currently I have a Grand Cherokee Summit. But, the dial trans is an awkward transition for me. I mean, what the heck am I supposed to do with my right hand? I steer mostly one handed, except when I had a chance to test drive a trackhawk (that is an INSANE amount of power for an SUV!). But that was less about "steering" and more about panic, LOL!

It took me a year and a half to no longer be annoyed by the dial. Small things annoy small minds so I'm not surprised it took me that long, but you will probably get over it at some point and start to focus on the real problems like ticky lifters and broken manifolds.

Even though the TRX has a "console style" shifter, it is still an shift by wire system. The transmissions used all these trucks have no provisions for a mechanical shift linkage.
I'm sure someone is working on retrofitting the TRX shifter for the people that whine about the shift knob.

Remember that the TRX debuted for the 2021 model year, which means that shifter is brand-new. The TRX is a Ram 1500, but contains many parts that it doesn't share with other Ram 1500's. I can see the potential for a retro-fit kit, but that would require modification to the center console configuration. Or even a replacement center console. It's not gonna be cheap. But then again, the TRX is not cheap either.

I'm content with the dial shifter. I'm on my 4th truck with this shifter, so I guess I better be. I like having the extra room in the center console, and I also like that there is no shift lever on the steering column. It definitely took a little while to get used to it, but it's not like you're normally needing to bang gears.
