I sold my 08 1500 a few weeks ago and purchased a 2014 1500 2WD w/ 5.7 automatic tranny.

I tow pretty regularly, 7x14 enclosed trailer with audio and lighting equipment for event/shows. I'm probably around the 3-4000 range, nothing too crazy.

I noticed when I installed my P3 electronic brake module and the connected my 7-way switch to my trailer, there was no 12V, no turn signals, nothing.. So naturally I open up the fuse box in the engine compartment and looked at all the Trailer fuse location, Trailer turn signal fuses, the 12V to trailer and they were ALL bad.

Driving at night after shows/events, it's a MUST to have lights on your trailer! My previous Ram never had an issue with blown fuses. I'm only speculating that the previous owner of this 2014 Ram had done something a bit goofy to allow the fuses to blow?... I replaced the fuses and everything is working as it should.

Should I be worried about the fuses blowing again? IS there something in these "newer" Ram's that I should be aware of?
I purchased extra mini fuses in case it happens again, but typically if you're having to do that, there's a gremlin somewhere and needs to be dealt with.

I bought my 2009 last month and I found that the lights in the Ramboxes weren't working. The fuse that controls them also is used for the trailer. I hadn't connected a trailer yet so don't know what was affected. I've since towed a trailer 700 miles and didn't have any issues with the lights. I'm towing a car trailer this weekend so will be using the brake controller. Worked fine bringing the trailer to my house. I do know the previous owner was towing a dump trailer with the truck but he didn't mention any problems with the electrics. I'm carrying extra fuses just in case.

Replace the 20 amp cartridge fuses/or micro blades. Then check all the grounds ref lighting on the trailer and make sure they are solid and good, not corroded. Here is what I do on MY 2019:

Before plugging in, turn off truck, lights, open, close door, wait for system to power down. Then go ahead and plug in trailer. MY 19 ( will sometimes blow the 20 amp cartridge fuse for my trailer running lights if I do not do this), think I have a bad ground, so this is the work around at least on my "truck".

I do not remember if U have micro fuses or cartridge on the 2014, but get what u see is needed and maybe carry a few spares.

All above IMHO...

Did any one figure out what this is? I have the same issue on my 2018, I thought. Blew the fuse pulling my camper it was dry out. Couldn’t find but 2 fuses in all of flagstaff, Napa guy tells me dodge guys are buying them up. I get home where I own a mixed fleet of trucks (dodge being the more durable) I head for the shop there I find a bowl of blown 20amp fuses. Ends up I also own a new carton of these fuses and some other shaped ones for the newer dodges. This is a problem dodge can’t recreate so they won’t warranty it my mechanic has tried for years to get them to do something to no avail. We found a auto electrician that claims it is from connecting any trailer randomly with the truck running. We are still seeing some blown but that could be employee error.
