I'm not an elegant welder but I can stick stuff together. ;>) The oil pan is mig welded on the outside and then brazed on the inside to seal it up and then a coat of POR15 tank sealer inside and out for good measures.

Well, adapter got finished this week so I got the engine bolted in for the last time, I hope. Now its time to start bolting accessories on and wiring it all up.Rambo passenger mount.jpg

Got some brackets built and pulleys mounted today. Took three idlers to get good belt wrap and keep the belt tight to the engine. I'm using the Hemi alternator and A/C compressor along with a Ford vacuum pump.Belt routing.JPG

That small panel cover on the left side of the full floor console
I see that you fitted a switch into it.
Those little clips that hold it in place are very fragile
I broke mine the 2nd time that i opened it

I did notice that the panel did not snap back in place on one end. Should be able to epoxy a small tab to the backside once I get back to interior stuff.

4" downpipe is a bit of an overkill for this engine but its what I had to start with.Rambo downpipe.JPG

Started to tackle the wiring this weekend. The Cummins ECU harness only has 38 wires to deal with on the chassis side so I'm starting with that and almost have it done. Once its finished I can fire the engine as a stand alone system, hopefully this week.

Next step is to tackle the Ram harness which is a bit more challenging. :(

I wanted to have a whole separate battery system for the Cummins, I did this on my Dakota build and it was great. A few times we got back to the truck and the main truck battery was dead. The separate battery was isolated from the truck so it always started. Finding a spot for the second battery was interesting and I ended up going under the passenger floor on the outside of the frame. I'll install a jump plug in the grill so if it needs a jump it will be easy.rambo battery installed.jpgrambo battery.jpg

After 8 months of work the truck finaly made it maiden voyage. On Friday I was shure I would not get it drivable in time but after a late night remote transmission tunning sesion with Russell at Sound German Auto I had a usable truck. It still needs lots of fine tuning but it made the 2 hr tow with no problems. That Cummins/8 speed combo works very well. We had a couple of low mountain passes to get over and had no problemTofino.jpg, hardest problem was keeping my foot out of it. :>)

We have traveled a lot of North America but 2 hrs from home is pretty special!
Still a LONG way from "sorted" but a good start.
