So I have a 2019 Classic with the black quads and I just picked up some black projectors pretty cheap locally. They are the discontinued version that are all black (no chrome around the projector). I’ve been doing some research and I saw that some people swap out the front end wiring harness for the projector version and that was the route I was gonna take (OEM harness is cheaper than a retroshop conversion harness and it would have ALL of the wiring for the projectors). Unfortunately like many things these day, the harness I need is on back order with no ETA of when it would be available.

I then decided to make my own harness and include the missing wiring that most if not all of the conversion harness you can buy online are missing. Basically each projector headlight has 9 wires where as each quad headlight has 6 wires. So I was missing 3 wires on the truck side for both lights. Fortunately I got lucky and confirmed I have the missing wiring in the large connector under the fuse box, they just terminate there. I made a harness to run the missing wiring to the headlight locations and I incorporated those wires into my conversion harness. The three missing wires for each headlight are: High Beam Headlight Relay Control, DRL Lamp Driver, Front Lighting Fault Sense. Since these are missing on the truck side, any harness you buy for this conversion will not incorporate that wiring.

Here are some photos of the process. I took apart the truck to get my measurements for the harness.

Also, big shout out to @Jimmy07! I got most of my info from a post he did on another forum.

Holding onto them for now. I tend to keep the stuff that I swap out.

Cool info! Dummy question, how much splicing is needed to do something like this on mine? I have a 15 with factory quads, and am installing oem projectors. Would you be willing to sell me a pair done up? I guess I’m not sure how much I’m getting into

There is no splicing but you do need to pin additional wiring into the large connector under the fuse box.

I recently got myself the projector headlights, and the conversion harnesses. I'm unhappy with the results, and wonder if I can simply add the missing wires to create a factory single connection, using the harness I already bought. My thinking is to take the existing factory 3-wire headlight connectors apart, and rewire them directly to the projector connector (provided the wire pins are the same), then run new DRL, relay control, and fault sense to the proper location on the projector connector. Thoughts?

Terminals are not the same so you would have to cut the factory terminals off an add the correct wire seals and terminals to pin to the projector connector.

Roger, thanks for clarifying. Looks like I'll be buying some supplies. Do the terminals require a certain crimper?

Great job on your mods & looks great!
I am personally sticking with the stock blacked out quads in my 19' Classic with a full set of new Fahren LED high's & low's, but your truck is looking great with the upgrades!
Congrats & your write up is on point, too! Kudos.
