Hey Fella, out for a walk today in the deep dark woods and came across this vehicle…….
Anyone know what it is? I thought maybe a 1940 Chevy as it has GMD in the straight 8 engine exhaust manifold. Been there a long long time. No road,,track nothing! Note the hood ornament and grill badge. But not a Chevy badge?

No mate! I live in Wisconsin sorry for confusion! This is buried on deep woods in a abandoned homestead near our home in Bayfield. Amazing any of it is still there. Door handles, window winders still in place. Grill looks good, as do the bumper bars that’s it really.
I thought the hood emblem was possibly an aircraft but not too sure it is busted off. Nice find !

I was so shocked it still had doors on it. They obviously stripped it partially.
I doubt it could be rebuilt or is worth anything but still interesting. I assume there must have been a track at one time. Trunk lid is still there too along with hood. Looked to be a three speed auto (I think) column shift. Interior completely gutted/rotted out.

Based on the visible bit of the emblem, placement of headlights and the shape of the grille, I'm going with late 30's Buick Special sedan.

I would also say Buick. Pre war era for sure. After 41 all GM production stopped until 46. I only know this because my first truck was a 40 Chevy and my brother had a 46 panel van. That era of Chevy trucks and panel vans were unique and full of design. I miss those roll out windshields. Lost Detroit steel vehicles that no one thinks are worth anything. It’s sad they are all but gone.

My Grandfather had a 1939 Green Buick Special when i was about 9 years old, similar to the one below.
When the engine gave up, he bought a 1953 Buick Special
The 1939 was parked sort of out of sight, close to the Chicken Coupe
I used to pretend that i was driving it for several years

That was when Car design was more of an art form
To me, 1958 models became rectangular boxes

If it was not for the chrome, no one would buy it
The 348 cu in engine was just right for a work truck

If it is your car I could SURE use the rear fenders for my 39 Pontiac as well as some of the chrome strips.

It isn’t mine or on my property. It is in an abandoned wooded area near me. I am sure you could acquire these parts if we could find out who legally owns it. Is that something you would like to attempt? PM me ( or email, [email protected])
Do bear in mind this is in Bayfield Wisconsin, don’t know where you operate from……

British Leyland was a bad time for the British motor industry! All those old firms put under one corporate umbrella, Morris, Mini, Jaguar,MG of course, Austin, the list goes on. All defunct now.
i owned Mg, Austin 1300 Jaguar XJ6 series 1.

Hay Mike yes 216 cid for the Chevy but later like in 1950's they came with a powerglide they upped the cid to 225.
